I saw that article a few days ago!
Whoever told them that a Nissan Frontier was a suitable tow vehicle for that much rv, or any rv, should be held responsible. But the rv owners should've also done a little homework of their own.
Just because a vehicle has a truck bed on it doesn't mean it can tow anything you can connect to it.
They were just very lucky that tiny tow vehicle wasn't also resting in it's top with them in it. I bet the seats have stains in them!

I was SHOCKED !!!!

Shocked to see at the 1:52 mark, that there is a "missing weight distribution hitch" on that little truck... How could anyone "allow" a new trailer owner to leave the lot towing a trailer that size with a "receiver hitch/ball with no weight distribution or sway control" ?????

Looking at newer videos these idiots have a gofundme page so they can buy another TT.
They SAID they drive responsible but IMHO.
Flat tires in Texas. Well Texas gets hot and if you drive too fast or your TT is wandering around the tires overheat and blow out.
They got a ticket for unsafe driving. They are very lucky they didn't kill themselves or other motorists. In my world they would have been charged with towing while clueless and attempted manslaughter.
Sigh. The roads get less safe every day.

I’m not trying to defend the selling dealer, but I can remember a dealership I worked at that sold those trailers, customer was advised about WD and declined. We don’t know if that’s the case here….Just sayin

just back from Promised Land State Park in PA. Watched a Tahoe pull in with way too much trailer. He had the trailer wheels locking up every time he touched the pedal to prevent the trailer from pushing the Tahoe off the road! Yes, the roads are scary! I thought our Husky WDH and anti-sway was ridiculously expensive but it is worth every penny spent.

And to add "insult to injury" (thank God nobody was killed) he was using a 2" ball mount with what looks to be a 5" drop, turned upside down with the ball mounted on top of that... Talk about looking for "torque to twist the truck receiver, just the "pendulum effect" would induce what would likely be "insurmountable truck rear axle sway" !!!!!!!

10000 miles and fifteen states. Wonder how many close calls they had along the way…God looks out for fools, drunks and children I’ve heard…wonder how many chances he will give you… they are probably gearing up for another shot at towing…I think some people have no common sense and I’d be amazed to find that the new setup will be done properly…I wouldn’t be surprised to see them soon with a LARGE HEAVY DUTY F150. and a fifth wheel….thank god no one else was hurt

They now have the chance to advise all their viewers to get the proper tow vehicle and hitch. I did not listen to the whole story, I doubt they still have a clue. After hearing they drive safely and slow while towing, I kind of gave up.
Some crashes can be avoidable if you react with skill and properly some not. This was a not.
As a crash investigator, that set up resulting in a crash was a no brainier ticket without having a team investigate the why it happened. I am glad no one was hurt.

They only raised a little over $1500 since May soooo I’m thinking the smart money is trying to keep them off the roads

I recall it being said " God looks after fools and puppy dogs". Those folks aren't puppy dogs. In in the words of Ron White "you can't fix stupid ".

I just HAD to comment under both their videos on Youtube in my usual calm, collected, indoor voice. I wanted to just SCREAM at their sorry butts! Both of them out there whining and pouting, begging for money....

If you can get the video to stop at 12, 13 and 14 seconds, the curbside rear trailer tire has "something flapping as the tire goes around and there's a flat spot with no tread on that same tire. Add that to the part of the video showing a tire with maybe 30PIS, lack of a hitch (at least he changed from a "3 way hollow bar to a 5" drop with no WD hitch), torqueing the lug nuts with a universal lug wrench, but what the heck, it'll also fit the rear stabilizers.

These two are a hazard to RVing and the image they present is not only frightening, it's damn near a "don't ever do what we do, if you want to live" moment !!!!!

At least we can say that we saw it on the internet, so it must be true !!!
