I have a 2017 F-350 with the 6.7 and tow a 5th wheel that weighs in at @ 11,000 lbs. The towing experience is very solid with plenty of power on hills, and it’s also handy having the engine brake for long downhill descents. I barely feel the trailer back there... recommend highly 👍

We pull a 14,200 lbs trip loaded Montana with our 2018 F350 CC STW 6.7 diesel that has the 3.55 rear end. No problem whatsoever even out in the Rockies of Colorado. Just purrs right along.

That's a lot of truck for 11K lbs. We were towing double that with a 2012 6.7L DRW.

I have a 2006 F-350 dually with a 6.0. 60 gallon auxiliary tank in the bed. 37 foot 5th wheel toyhauler. Put 2 motorcycles in back weighing 1600 for both of them. Just weighed with full fuel and came in at 24,440. I live in PA and came to Florida. Hauls it easily. The 6.7 has more torque and should do the same.

Bought my 2010 3500 Ram new and made sure it had 4:10 rear end. A little less fuel mileage but it towed my 14000 lb. Cyclone with ABSOLUTELY no problems. For the small fuel mileage lost I wouldn't go with anything less.

Late to the party but have a 2017 6.7 dually with the 3.55 gears and tow the 15K Alpine without any difficulty. You don't know the 5th wheel is back there.

Late also but have a 2019 F350 4x4 dually Lariat with 355s. Also a 50 gallon aux tank total 98 gallons of fuel. Pulling a 17k 5er. Been through the Smokies and Ozarks without a problem. Did see 5th a couple times and even 4th once when semi decided to pass another on the hill going into Ashville NC. No problem.

The weight police will probably come after me, but I tow our 15,500 GVWR (actually last weighed in at 13, 900) 5th with a 2015 F250 with the 6.7 and 355 gears. Handles I40 thru Tennessee and I81 thru Virginia with no problems. I am taking delivery of an F350 a soon as Ford will let the dealer let me have it. Ford is holding any Super Duty truck with the remote tailgate until the recall is completd on them now (or so my dealer tells me).

I have a 2012 F-350 6.7L diesel, 3.55 axle ratio, towing a 2012 Montana 3150RL at an actual weight o 14,200lbs. I usually run at about 60 mph on interstates and I can hardly tell that the trailer is there, except that my fuel mileage drops from about 18mpg to about 12.5mpg. The transmission seldom ever downshifts on the gentle interstate grades. Going west from Denver on I-70 was effortless on the uphill portion, but on the downhills I sure do wish the 2012 model year had the exhaust brakes that later became standard!

from google...of course.
'It's pure mechanics. BEST TOWING RATIO: In general, the best towing axle ratio for most of the post-2010 pickups is in 3.55 or 3.73. Those ratios provide very good acceleration with gas V-8s and diesels.' Feb 2, 2015
I don't know what you will be using the truck for but, I'd ask you if you really need a dually.

Roscommon48 It will mainly before towing the current fifth wheel but in the near future we are looking to move up to a toy hauler. Dually will be a little over kill for the current trailer but don't want to switch trucks again in a year or two.

We are towing a scale verified 17,000# Raptor 353TS with our 2017 F350 DRW crew cab 4x4, 6.7 diesel, 6 speed transmission, 3.55 gears. It is an XLT (not fancy) but came with preferred equipment PKG.623A and the 14,000 GVWR package. It is very comfortable and extremely capable! I carry a lot of tools plus have a 90 gallon reserve tank, so our GCVW weighs in at over 26,000. We absolutely LOVE our F350 DRW! I wouldn't trade it for anything - well, I suppose if you offered me a new one for free, I might consider it. I drive at just under 70 on the freeway and push hard on the hills. Our overall mileage on trips to Colorado and around the western US is just under 10 mpg. The truck came with a listed 925 foot-pounds of torque and 440 BHP - I have no reason to doubt those numbers. This truck is a marvelous tow vehicle. As mentioned by others, the engine braking is magnificent in these newer trucks. I think you will be very happy with its performance.
Best of luck - see you on the road!

You will love that truck. I have a 2017 with that set up only SRW. I haven't crossed the Great Divide but on the East coast I think the test is I77 that long climb from NC into VA. I'm pulling 17K gross and it doesn't even down shift with the cruise set at 67 unless I have to slow down for someone up front struggling to pass. And going down that grade the engine brake holds it right on 67. I average just under 12mpg when towing. This is the sweetest truck I've ever owned. Like I said, you're gonna love it.

I have put 14,000 miles on my 2019 F350 SRW with 3:55 gears and 6.7lt diesel pulling a 36ft. Montana. I absolutely recommend it, having had excellent performance in every imaginable condition.

I have a lariat crew cab DWD standard bed pulling a Montana High Country 381TH with GRVW of 17,000. We spent this summer at 7000 and higher in Colorado, Utah, New Mexico and Arizona. The only issue we had was going thru Wolf Pass in Colorado. At roughly 12500 there is not much air for the turbocharger to work with and you can certainly tell it.
One more detail we learned and I will share. The engine oil temperature will increase with load. At times the digital readout was above 240. Being an old racer, temperatures in the 240 range set my hair standing on end. However the 6.7 can handle this rise without issue. To quote my ford mechanic, unless the warning indicator comes on just drive.
Lol we did. I did have the oil changed twice in the 6500 miles we traveled

I do what you do. We travel all over the country. With the high temps is the reason I only use full synthetic oil. I also only use Motorcraft oil. I know you can use cheaper oil but why risk it. I never change my oil that often because I use synthetic. It cost me about $200 each time. LOL

If you wait and get a new 2020 Ford 6.7 you will have 475 horsepower and 1050 ft/lbs of torque! As well as my 400 horsepower 800 ft/lbs 2011 tows, I can't imagine having any trouble towing the heaviest RV's with this new one, regardless of what gears!

Congrats,so what is the axle ratio? Late to the party but you get the 3.55 ratio for the snow plow and FX4 packages if I remember correctly. I have both on mine but I haul less than 10K. It allows me to go up a 7% grade with the cruise set @65 mph and that is good enough for me
