CWs New RV Home Delivery

I got a flier in the mail and then checked it out on line where Camping World will be offering "Factory Fresh" RV Home Delivery. It is geared toward people who don't have a RV dealer (aka Camping World) nearby. Looks like you basically order it on line and they deliver it...Simple.

I'd suspect that this is Camping World's attempt to gain a larger share of sales to people who don't yet own a tow vehicle but want to go ahead and buy a trailer NOW. Offering a "delivery service" will also open up a larger share of those people who want to buy an RV or "destination trailer" to be placed on a permanent site at an RV community.

More and more people are looking to buy an RV with no intention of ever towing it.

I'd suspect that any RV dealership would (or maybe already does) this type of sale. It's just that CW is now "actively advertising to that market".....

Mail order RV's to go along with Amazon's "mail order shopping".... My question would be "Just how big is the drone that they'll need for "1 day delivery" ???

What do they charge?

Camping World a mere 35 miles away wanted $500 to deliver my Bullet. They said they charge a lot to discourage delivery.

Hired a guy For $200. Easy money for him, savings for me.

The manager of that CW will probably "change his mind" once he gets the "corporate briefing" that's likely headed his way.....

Maze, I see where you're coming from. Might I ask in what business you're employed? CW is insured for their endeavors….
Who would pay if your friend took out your neighbor's BMW while doing you a favor? See where I'm coming from?

Insurance would pay. Insurance on guy's truck, my RV, or BMW. Enquired ahead of time.

Even at 100 bucks an hour, 500 was 300 too much.

I'm no insurance expert by any stretch but say you "enquired ahead of time". I don't know how you "inquired". You may want to read those policies for yourself. Most vehicle insurance won't cover someone that's engaged in making money by driving without that being specifically stated in the policy. If the driver isn't covered than the theoretic BMW's owner would only be covered by his or her insurance company if they had "full coverage" (comprehensive) as apposed to just collision. In either case, I'd bet the insurance company would be suing the driver, and possibly the person that hired the driver to recoup their money.
The bottom line is it's your camper, your money and your decision. Enjoy your camping.

Wow!
Order groceries, fast food, any/all household goods, saw you could buy a car & now a RV bought online, we've become a real lazy society!!
With that being said I'd NEVER buy a used car/truck online, ABSOLUTELY NEVER EVER buy a new or used rv online & sure don't want someone else delivering it cause they'll be back in a week to take it back for warranty work.
Lay down your phones, lap top or tablet, go outside, drive to a store & go shopping, hurry before all of that type of shopping ends.

Danny, someday the camper will be obsolete. Strap on the 3-D glasses and go on a virtual camping trip. The WiFi will dim your lights, start the fire in the fake fireplace, and turn on the microwave to heat up your sumore's!

As far as delivery, that's fine what about the shopping part. Are they wanting people to buy a RV by looking at floor plans and photos? It takes several hours to do a good PDI and point out all the stuff that needs fixed.
I told this tail before, in 2004 I purchased a 28ft TT to go onto a extra beach lot next to my other lot. About 80 miles away from the lot. I made the deal and asked about delivery, the sales manager said they could do it for free. I ended up towing it myself due to making a trip after work and having the next full day to set it up. The delivery part was never offered, I just asked.

Maybe if the quality and warranty was up to automotive standards, but with so much that can be built wrong, I'd want to do a full PDI so I'd be at the lot regardless.

Might consider it for a truck as long as I get pictures of the payload and vehicle weight stickers.
