Docking station hole question

On our previous TT, all the connections were external. The FW we're looking at has a big hole in the floor for water, cable, etc. and an external power cord. Fine steel wool will keep larger critters (mice and squirrels) out. How do you prevent ants, roaches, etc. from using that as an entry point into the trailer when camping?

Dollar store flea collars do wonders.

I use Home Defense insecticide around all the legs, tires & anything else connected to the rv. Also have a sonic pest device that works if the rv has shore, it works fantastic, squirrels go around & birds don't land on the roof.

I use a heavy rubber plunger with a hole cut in it for the hose and cable.

Don't assume that entry hole at the convenience center is the only rodent/pest entry point on that rig. I use a large piece of foam to stuff around the hose in that hole. Still got mice a couple of times and very frustrating trying to get rid of them. I might think about one of those ultrasonic devices.

My convenience center is sealed off from the rest of the trailer, never thought of the hole in the bottom for the hose and cable connection as a problem. I do spray anything that touches the ground from the trailer with home defense.

I saw on another forum to put 5 gallon buckets under landing gear jacks. And I also use cab fresh for Ag equipment in my storage area didn’t have anything in camper last winter.

Unless you have a gasket around the perimeter of the convenience center that will contact the compartment door, it is still wide open to mice. Mice only need maybe a 1/4 inch gap to squeeze through. Most of these rigs have numerous openings underneath that allow rodents to enter the belly and from there can enter the living space.

Yes the door is gasketed and the compartment itself is sealed from the rest of the basement. This is the 2nd trailer that I have owned with a convenience center and maybe I've been lucky but I've never had any rodents entering (knock on wood)
