2016 Fuzion 414 wheel bearings.

I'm just getting around to winterizing our new this year Fuzion. Going through The "generic" owners manual, it outlines 3 type of wheel bearings and the maintenance required but nowhere does it identify what type of wheel bearings Keystone is using. Does anyone here know what is coming with these new toy haulers? I'm sure the Raptors are the same.

Re: 2016 Fuzion 414 wheel bearings.

You most likely have 7k lb axles o the trailer. Check the back side of the axle, there should be a tag that gives you all of the specs. As you already mentioned, there could be different bearings, but it's mainly based on the shaft diameter. The easiest way to make sure id to pull the original bearing and look for the stamp on them. My local trailer shop said my axles could have been one of two different bearings. They sold me both along with both size seals and just told me to bring back the ones I didn't need.

BTW, don't trust what is in the paperwork for axle size. I tried doing it the easy way and asked the dealer what size axle was on my trailer. They looked it up in their computer and said 6k lb..that didn't sound right to me, so I crawled underneath and checked the axle tag...7k lb.

Yes I do have a tri-axle that has 7K units. My question more specifically is if I have the sealed bearings or greasable bearings. I guess the easiest way to find out is to pull a wheel and take a look.

Re: 2016 Fuzion 414 wheel bearings.

You've got a 99.99% chance that the bearings are NOT going to be sealed bearings. I don't know of any Keystone product that uses them. All I've ever seen have been "standard grease packed" bearings.

ADDED: I just checked the Fuzion website. The axles are listed as "7000 lb EZLube axles" so, now, with that information I'd say it's 100% that you have greased bearings.

The axles will have an ID tag on them. You can ask the manufacturer for the specs to those axles, which will include the appropriate bearings. As stated above, they're greasable bearings and there are mixed opinions on the viability of the EZ-lube system as the sole means of bearing maintenance.

NAPA sells the bearings and seals, but I have found Etrailer prices to be better, although, I would ensure that the bearings are USA, German or Japanese vs the cheaper Chinese bearings...manually greased, of course.

Re: 2016 Fuzion 414 wheel bearings.

I just purchased Timken bearings and races for my Dexter 5,200 lbs axles. All USA made. Bought on Amazon and were delivered in two days.

Re: 2016 Fuzion 414 wheel bearings.

The trailer is brand new. Should I be preemptively change out the bearings to Timken or just go for an inspection/grease job? I have no idea what Dexter uses for bearings.

Re: 2016 Fuzion 414 wheel bearings.

Dexter uses Chinese bearings, but they may be a better bearing than you will get at some trailer parts suppliers, as their Chinese bearings may not have the same specs for weight capacity that the Dexter ones have. I would just roll with the supplied bearings the first year, and if you are able to do the work yourself, change them out to Timken, USA made bearings and races, and use the best grease you can buy. Timken does market grease that has higher specs than most that are on the shelf at your local auto supply stores.
