New satellite stand

I finally broke down and made a new satellite stand that is a lot lighter and easier to handle. My old one I made out of a board and some VERY heavy rocks to hold it down. I was tired of moving and carrying all this weight. I decided it was time to make a new one so I went a bought some PVC pipe and made this. All is left to do is paint it a flat grey to match the dish. I was interrupted by a very large thunderstorm. I tried it and it works like a champ and seems very stable. I also modified the LNB arm bracket so I could fold it down when storing. All in all it turned out better than I expected.

Nice design, my only question is did you fill the PVC with sand to put some weight in it or do you use some type of tie down?

Brantlaker I did not. It actually has a solid feel to it and when the dish is sitting on it it feels very stable. I am pretty sure it will stay up right except in the highest winds and then all bets are off anyway. I left the 90 end caps open just in case I need to to add sand or whatnot. Time will tell.

Wouldn't happen to have a close-up oh the LNB arm mod would ya???
Huh-huh, pretty please ...

Have you thought about turning the frame upside down and giving yourself
somewhat more friction coefficient?

New satellite stand

Hankaye all I did was remove the bracket and flatten the part that kept it from moving after drilling out the punch welds. After that I put in two bolts with wing nuts. Just removing the bottom one allows it to fold into the dish.

I can actually remove the 90 deg ends that act as feet. I plan on testing it in action soon to see what works best.

justlkn, Howdy;

Thanks for taking the time to get those great shots of the Mod.
Looks simple enough for Rascal to do ... if only he had thumbs
