Battery Box Strap Replacement

Went to check my battery water levels and the straps holding the lids on just fell off at the touch. Seems they are acid resistant but not UV resistant. So with another reason to mod something... I had some 1/16" stainless wire and crimps laying around, then went to home depot and bought a couple zinc plated extension springs, measured around the box for ample tension and installed. I clipped one end a little so its easier to loop together. Going to paint black and install the springs to the rear of the box for a cleaner look. At $3.99 a strap I should save 8 bucks a year, whoo-hoo!

Bungee Cord It

That looks like a great idea ...When ours wore out, I just used a heavy duty black rubber bungee cord. Since th box is black you can't see it.

I also used a bungee cord to secure both lids on my old trailer. That worked out pretty well for years.
