Heater melt down

Had this happen to one of our heaters this weekend. You can see the melting plastic below the bottom knob. Took it apart to find the wires fried. Good thing i noticed before we hit the sack for the night..

Recalls on some model's. It's lucky you didn't have a melt down. That's another reason to have your smoke alarms working.

That’s one reason we DON’T use that type. Oil filled radiators are much safer. Glad you and your family are ok.

I very much dislike portable electric heaters. My dad was a Firefighter and saw way too many fires started by them.
I use electric to heat also by invested in the "Cheap Heat" system. https://www.rvcomfortsystems.com/#

No it isn't cheap to buy to start with, but heats the belly and with our 32' three season 5er will hold 68 degrees in the 5er when the out side temp is down to the lower 30's, when on a 30 amp hookup! (1,800 watts)

When on a 50 amp service I have not had an issue down to the mid 20's (5,000 watts).
I use to have to move wiring a bit to switch from 30 amp to 50 amp hook up, now there is an auto switch over option.
