shortest way

last year we went from rapid city sd. to west yellowstone mt. we took 90 to bozeman then 191 we had a dodge 2500 and a grand design momentum 395 could we have taken rt 14 instead?

Ji, keep in mind that it is about 150 miles or so from Cody to West Yellowstone across 14. And 110 of those inside the park, winding roads and gawking tourists. Stopping in the middle of the road to look at an elk is what tourists do. We've been both ways a number of times and better to take the northern route. YMMV

notanlines has a point about going through the park. However a little shortcut can be used just after Sturgis SD. Get off at exit 23 turn right on SD 34 take it into Belle Fourche, turn right on U.S. 85 go through town and turn left on U.S. 212 which will take you to I-90. On 212 just as your coming into Broadus there is a rest area/weigh station on the west side of the road. This route saves time and miles
