Question Furrion FOS48TAPK-BL

I know that camera systems have been talked about in other threads, but I'd like to focus specifically on this model.

This observation system has pretty good reviews on Amazon. I have a new Bullet 248RKS and I'd like to install this camera system on to it, but I **REALLY ** do not want to drill holes and mount a bracket on my trailer if it's not going to work well. Overall length of TT and TV is 48 feet.

Can anyone comment on the functionality of this model of Furrion?

Thanks!!!

I have installed a few Furrion cameras, but don't recall model #'s. I will check with our parts guy and if that's the one we use, it's a good one.

I have the Furion observation camera installed on my OR trailer, which came prewired for it. It works very well on my setup, which is a CC LB F350 and a 31' TT. I don't know the overall length, but it is not insignificant.

I just checked, that is the system we install. I can tell you that I have put the camera on the back of a trailer in the shop and checked reception in a class A motor home at least 100' away and had clear reception.

Please let us know how it works out. I plan to get a camera for the 5er before we go to Denali next spring. I have not decided on make and model. Would like to know pros/ cons after you have a chance to see how it performs.

I absolutely will. I think I'll make a mounting video as well, sorta as a step-by-step instruction guide.

Backup Camera

My dealer just installed the Furrion FOS48TAAPK-Bl on my keystone Bullet 248RKS. I originally tried another wireless brand that did not work out. The Furrion is fantastic. Mounted it just above the marker lights. The dealer originally use that as a power source and after numerous tries said not enough amps. Couldn't get the two units to connect.
He wired to my inside light next to the stove and it worked great. My only issue is that the camera is on when the 12 volts are on. I am going to add a switch in the cabinet next to the light.
It's so good that my wife decided to unhitch the truck to park it on the other side of the house and still had a great picture a good distance away from the trailer. I adjusted it so I can see both tops of the rear taillights and the top of the spare - perfect for judging the back of the trailer. As a new bee to trailers (downsized from Class A), this help relieve pressure in backing up in small sites at Disneyworld.

Wow... That is interesting! "Not enough amps" wiring it to the marker light? That's exactly where I intend on mounting my camera.

Anyone else ever see an issue like that?

Cruiser brand has the housing and pigtail installed from the factory, and it is wired to the center clearance light.

Grand design also comes with the furrion housing and pigtail installed from the factory, but they are wired directly to the battery UPSTREAM of the battery cut off, so it's always on.

We haven't had any connection issues using the clearance light, but we did have a small batch of units not work right out of the box.

Furrion Backup Camera

On the Montanas, how does one troubleshoot to see if the camera is getting power. I understand it is connected to the Reverse function to prevent it being constantly on. I do not have a LED showing at the camera when the truck is hooked up and the jack is a little difficult to get a reading with the voltmeter. I suspect no power to the camera (or bad camera) and of course no pairing. I have reverse lights from the truck to the back of the trailer also.

Question Backup Camera on my Montana

My Montana came with a wireless backup camera but no info on connecting it to a display. It would be nice if I could use it with my F-350's monitor.

There are 4 very small Phillips head screws that hold the camera in the base. Once they are removed, the wiring plug should be right there. Two wires-ground and 12VDC. If the camera is plugged in then you need to check for voltage. Are you sure the power is tied to reverse and not the running lights?

If you don't want to plug into the truck and the trailer battery is good, just look at the plug. With it facing you and the locking tab UP, 12V will be the top left slot. To the right is the running lights and reverse is the center. Just use a jumper wire and you can test at the camera.

Welcome to the forum.

Do you know the brand and model number of the camera? Some use a dedicated monitor and there is a brand that can broadcast to a particular model of Garmin. I'm not aware of any that pair with factory automotive monitors.

Re: Furrion FOS48TAPK-BL

I am thinking about installing the same camera on our new Cougar 31SQBWE. On the back there is a sticker which says - backup camera preparation... Does anyone knows what it means? Should I try to peel the sticker off, to see if there is a box for pre wiring?

Re: Furrion FOS48TAPK-BL

It means the wiring for a camera is there. It's common to use the running lights for power, and I would think if you drilled a hole where the sticker is, you might find a pigtail.

Re: Furrion FOS48TAPK-BL

Thanks a lot for the answer. That's what I have thought, just trying to avoid drilling the body at a wrong place. I will peel the sticker off, and try to use a wall cable finder to explore before drilling.

Re: Furrion FOS48TAPK-BL

Should be in the center of the wall near the top. Depending on style of clearance light, you might want the camera underneath it.
