Dometic RM1350 Refrigerator

My Dometic RM1350 refrigerator has stopped working on electric. It blows the breaker when plugged in and automatically switches to propane.

Any ideas on where to start looking for the problem, the manuels are useless

Sounds like the element has burned and shorted out.

Check the GFI in the bathroom to see if it tripped.

Because the hidden outlet behind the fridge can be accessed from outside of the coach, it is GFI'd, probably slaved off of the bathroom. An easy way to check is ti test any of your factory outside outlets. If they're out hit the reset on the GFI'd box.

Had a similar experience with my Dometic fridge last summer. It ran fine on gas.

We finally figured out the tiny glass fuse was blown in the fridge (take the outside panel off and in the board is a small (smaller than most glass fuses) fuse.

Looked all over h... for that stupid fuse - RV stores didn't carry it, and when they tried to order it from Dometic I got the wrong size. We ended up finding it in a 2-pack on the rack at an Ace Hardware, but not all Ace Hardwares have it. Make sure you bring the old/blown fuse and match the #'s and V.

Since replacing the fuse I've had no issues, but have 3 spare fuses just in case it happens again.

My bet would be a shorted electric element. You can unplug the leads from the control board, turn the fridge on and if the breaker doesn't pop right away, that's a good indicator of a bad element.

Make sure you replace it with the same wattage element.
