Question What is this port?

Hi Guys,

it is on the door side behind the rare tire, don't know what it is for.

Please see the Photo link

Thank you!

Can you ask the last owner. It is not anything I have ever seen as a factory plug. Are there wires going away from the plug and where do they go, what do they look like. I could make some guesses but do not want to assume anything.

Agree with Ken/Claudia. It's not factory. Could be anything. "Looks" like an old style microphone or audio plug. It would almost definitely not be AC. Could be DC.

No telling what a previous owner did so be careful.

Wow, haven't seen one of those for a while. It is a military spec cannon plug used on multiple items from communication equipment to aircraft avionics boxes. What it was being used for on your RV is hard to say. The original owner obviously had something that is used it for, but I doubt you will ever have/find a need for it. The open pic is a little burry, but it looks like a 4 pin round plug, which was typically used for power. I'm sure that is what it is wired for. It may even have been used to plug a generator he had into the unit. People can find some pretty amazing stuff at an Army Surplus store.

It looks to me like the previous owner had a rear camera and needed to extend the cable.

I used these for external antennas for my shortwave radios yrs ago I used to have them on my trucks to yak with others around the world.
I can see having one on a trailer as it would make sense.

It is a Mil Spec Electrical square flange receptacle with an MS style dust cap and chain.. I sell these for a living..

Most likely the last owner had an electrical device that would plug into this receptacle..

I haven't seen one of those in years. Ive seen small ones like that in the military for power to communications equipment. I would say chase down the wires its hooked to and see where they lead. its spliced into something because its not factory for sure.
