We recently purchased a Cougar pull behind. I have had a few other campers but this is the biggest. My sig. other and I are planning to get married soon and travel for our honeymoon. I do have some questions about internet connections and boosters. I'm sure other questions as well.

Thank you from Kansas! I've heard internet in parks is many times limited and weak. Would like to know what would be the best equipment to help boost the signal.

Absolutely the wifi is aweful, mostly anyway ,especially if the parks are crowded ,although this season crowed parks may not be a issue, I've heard some people just use their unlimited data plans.

In our experience "park" wifi can be fairly good, weak/on again/off again or just not offered. For those parks where it is "weak" but there we carry and extender because those parks don't put a big emphasis on the strength of their signal and don't have any distribution for it, or at others they may have distribution but they only pay for a tiny bit of bandwidth and it gets so slow it's not useable. Nearly all are now getting to the point they don't allow streaming or any heavy bandwidth usage. We've been to about 3 (4?) now that offer wifi but you have to pay for it. Minimal charge for enough to do email or something then larger fees for any large user applications. One location we were at charged 9.95 per day....OR 29.95 mo. (memory). At our winter location I have the local provider install my own broadband.

I was however looking at the Verizon JetPack this evening. I've read several comments on it and it sounds interesting. I figure I'll call Verizon and see what they offer as well as pricing. It would be nice to be able to access good internet wherever you were vs hit and miss. Good luck in your search. AND! Welcome to the forum!!

Hi Tammy, welcome to the forum!

We use a Verizon Hot Spot in out travels, and for the most part, it serves us well.

We will see what the new 5G service has to offer one it arrives.

Take care & Stay Safe, Gary

Welcome to the forum. What do you plan on using the wifi for? Just checking email? Visio conferencing? Streaming movies? Working remotely? The more information you share the more "focused" the recommendations and sharing of experience will be towards your needs.

As Marshall said, how you use the Internet and how often you use it camping makes a big difference. We switched to Consumer Cellular and they bumped us to 20 gigs (combined missus and myself) and I use the hotspot when traveling. Consumer Cellular will put you either on AT&T or T-Mobile towers based on which has better coverage where you live. We are on AT&T towers at home and seems to work decently well when camping one or two weekends a month. We don't stream much when traveling as I have a Dish antenna with my camper and watch satellite TV. Be careful using a hotspot as unlimited seems to mean many things to many carriers. Many give you unlimited for a certain amount of data used then throttle you back to where you are transported back to the 80s with SLOOOOOOW speeds.
