Slide cable not tight

So I'm assuming this is not right. The slide goes in and out smoothly, but when fully extended the top cable sags. I don't see a way to access the adjustments. Do I need to take all of the trim off and then staple it back on?

That is not right and yes, you need to remove the top facia board to access the motor, probably in the middle.

Thanks both!

In that vid I didn't think he had enough adjustment to take all that slack out. It was close but he did. I guess if you get to a point where you've run out of threads you have to replace the cable?

Or "re-swedge" it if you have the tools to do it.

If it is working fine otherwise, you can just bump the "in" button to take the slack out and focus on the next one of life's ubiquitous challenges. Mine sags a little and that is the route I chose to take.

If there is that much slack in only one of the four cables, the slide will not be coming in or going out (whichever that cable is a part of) squarely or evenly and will likely cause some binding/twisting of the slide room. In the case of the original poster's pic, it will affect the slide room's inward travel and cause issues. That will of course be worsened depending on whether the slide is heavier or not.

^^^^Vernon is right. That is too much slack to just "live with". For things to work properly, and work properly for the long term, that cable needs to be adjusted. The binding that will cause just compounds the problems in the long term if left unaddressed.

Sort of like, "It only pings a little bit when I'm first accelerating" or "It's only one quart low, there's 4 more quarts in the engine" or "It's only one tire that has 55PSI, the other three are 80PSI" or, "Two of the rear seatbelts buckle, so which kid will we put in the one that doesn't work?"...

If it ain't broke, don't fix it, but if it's obviously not right, it's not going to work the way it was intended.... Adjust it now, while it's just an adjustment or repair it (at much greater expense) when it does finally self destruct.....

You can most likely just Bri g the slide in a few inches to reach the adjustment and not have to remove the facia.

I was able to adjust mine without removing anything. With the slide all the way in, there was enough room between the top of the fascia and the ceiling for me to lean in and tighten things up.

YMMV.
