Second AC needed?

As for 2 15K vs one 15K and one 13.5 it would depend on a few conditions. Where are you doing your "typical" camping, i.e. plan for the norm not the exception. The requirements for camping in the south or south west are different than north of the Mason Dixon line.

Onother consideration is the size of the camper as well as how you use it. So if the DW just has to bake cookies for the grankids thay are popping in and out of the door is different than a couple that primarily stays put.

With air conditioning bigger isn't necessarily better. An excessivly over sized unit will "short cycle" meaning it will draw down the temp too rapidly and won't remove enough of the humidity. The result is a cold an clamy feeling that's uncomfortable. For the trailers that the bedroom unit isn't ducted then in effect you're conditioning just the room as the air will not sufficiently circulate to effeciantly cool the whole rig.

I’m in Florida and the summers are really hot. If you can put on a second AC do it!!

If you oversize an AC unit, the system will not be able to run long enough to remove the humidity in the air.
Oh, the Tstat will be happy, but your air isnt going to be dry.
Someone even mentioned they run a “dehumidifier”....yes because they have TOO large of an AC.

As a non professional air conditioning expert, I doubt that you will be able to tell a whole lot of difference between a 15K and 13.5K BTU unit.

That's an 11.11% increase in capacity. Yes, it does make a difference IMO.

I mentioned the dehumidifier and you would be wrong. I don't use the dehumidifier because I have too much AC, I use it because we have too much humidity if/when I don't want to run the AC or use the heat pump. It enables us to run the AC less in the proper circumstances. Your comments are appreciated but incorrect.

Regular Deep South campers here and for us 2 ACs were a must. We also do a small counter top dehumidifier we bought on Amazon for about $50. It makes a difference when it’s 90+ degrees with high humidity.

Funny story, always had units with 1 AC and when we went shopping for a new 5th wheel we have now, my first must have was 2 Ac units. We have a beach campground we LOVE, and its rustic still has some trees and I was always trying to be proactive and pick a spot with some shade etc.. Figured with 2 Units I wouldnt need to be picky.. First camping trip with new camper and all excited only to notice when backing in the older side of the campground we like was only 30 amp service so I could still only run 1 AC.. never noticed before cause All I had was 30 amp, i just assumed there was a 50 amp breaker service as well.. Nope!! LOL.. Anyway, we did fine, but it was pretty humbling!

I'll stick with my original assessment, hot and humid weather like central Texas last summer 111` with 80% humidity in the shade and not a tree with 100 yards, two 15K were still struggling at 9 pm... and yet it looked like a waterfall off the front and back of the trailer...
