Boondocking

OK, so as I have already been welcomed into this community tonight I wonder if it is too early to start asking some questions? So here is the skinny...My wife and I are planning to go to John Day OR for the eclipse next month. We didn't realize most campgrounds have been sold out for two years for this event...but, we did find one that is allowing us to boondock in their field for a very very reasonable price. Awesome! So questions are starting to flow now.
1. How do you cool down an RV with no AC (no generator)?
2. I am planning on installing a 750w peak 1500w inverter before we leave so we can use our 2 deep cycle batteries to run a fan or two for the weekend. Has anyone here done this?
3. Any other boondocking knowledge would be awesome. We did cross the country last year in a different TT and have stayed our fair share in Walmarts, but, other than that we only dispersed camped twice both in UT. (generator for our furnace. temp was in low 20's)

It likely will be HOT in John Day. #1 recommendation would be find some shade. (not likely in the overflow field) Keep the shades drawn, the windows and vents open, awning extended, cook outside and enjoy the show!
Fans are a good idea but know that inverters waste some power during their processing DC to AC for the fans. A small generator is a good investment . if you plan to do any dry camping so you can keep the batteries topped off. Alternatively you can get a portable solar panel set up for about $300 that will do the job as well.
