New TV

Just bought the Cougar and am trying to program the TV. Of course no manual included, so I thought just go on line and down load one. The TV is a Summit.
I went through the on screen start up process and I find that all my local channels are not being found. So I thought maybe I would find something in the owners manual. No owners manual in the packet provided by Camping World and no info on line for the manufacturer/brand name Summit.
Need some help. If the DW sends me to the "Dog House" and I can't watch the local news I'll go nuts

Most TV's are pretty straightforward when it comes to setup, so if you're familiar with other TV's, it should be much the same.

As for not finding your local stations, the first issue I'd suspect is that you don't have the TV amplifier turned on. It's the Winegard amplifier, probably located behind the TV.

Thanks for the reply. Had a similar TV in our previous TT.
Set up is pretty straight forward based on the on screen menu.
Antenna amp is on. Set up for "Air" broadcast.(tried cable but that's for the set top box config).
Don't know what the deal is but so far not receiving the major networks NBC, ABC etc.
Will keep plugging away until the DW cools off and let's me back inside

If you have another "known working" TV that you can use to "validate" that the trailer wiring is working??? Did you, during your PDI, check the TV for operation?

Does the antenna rotate? If so think of the wings as your outstretched arms. You want to be facing the transmission tower with your arms out to the sides not "in line" with the tower.

As for cable, you should not need a box top, just connect the cable and run the channel search. With the antenna rotate it with the signal strength screen on so you can see if you find a strong signal. On many trips we cannot pick up anything which is usually when we are deep in the woods.

Thank you all for the responses and apologizes for the slow reply.
The TV is working fine on some channels. I'm just not seeing/getting our usual network affiliates. The antenna is not the bat wing type but some new model you don't need to aim at the transmitter. You don't even need to raise it. Just sits up there doing it's thing.
We're getting ready for our first "shakedown" trip tomorrow so we'll see what happens in a different venue.
Found a resource for the manual so that's covered now I need to get some info on the new antenna.
Will post after our return with an update.

I hate to say it, but if it's the low profile with "fixed" wings, I haven't seen what I would call good performance from them. That new styles seems to be popping up on different brands. Can you post a pic of it?

The old bat wing antenna with attached UHF dipoles are the best available. The new fixed and omnidirectional ones are junk.

The fixed ones on the top of the Tiffen Class A's are the best I've seen. I can get 30+ channels inside the shop.

Camping? Kicking back? Time in the woods? Where does a TV and TV channels fit in exactly?

I believe this phenomenon is what some folks call an oxymoron.

************

If the OP has an "old" batwing type antenna, he might try adding the Winegard Wingman. Fairly cheap, easy to install, and quite effective.

OK, shake down cruise successfully completed for the most part.
The TV worked flawlessly in the field. Very happy with the reception from the new style antenna. The little "dish looking thing" in the attached picture.
In response to the question about why worry about TV while camping: We have dry camped a lot in the past and intend to continue in the future. This trip was to a state park located at a 36 hole mountain golf course. Plenty to do and see other than watch TV for sure. But, last night was a thunder storm and high winds. We were able to sit inside, watch a good movie (Spotlight) and enjoy a very comfortable entertaining evening. A very nice amenity when the time is time is right.
Including a couple of photos of the "RV Galactica"
Thanks to all for the helpful suggestions and happy camping

1st time using the antenna on my 2016 Cougar 303RLS this week. I have to crank it up but pulled 29 stations. The batwing on my last camper was next to worthless, could pull more in on the iPad and connected to the tv.

You do have the better style of omnidirectional antennas. Glad your shake down went well.
