Converting to Smart Plugs

Hello friends

I have a 2020 Hideout 272BH and am looking to convert a couple wall outlets to smart outlets that are combo 15amp plugs and dual USB outlets.

Is there anything I need to know or take into consideration before doing that or is it standard install procedures like one would do in their home?

TIA for your help

Remove the existing plug and measure the depth of the wall opening. Many (not all) trailers do not have walls that are thick enough to install the "smart plugs" in some locations. You may find a couple of places such as the bedside tables have enough depth for the outlet box, but other places simply won't be deep enough for them to fit.

DO NOT attempt to install them without an outlet box. The backs of the existing RV plugs "form their own safety box" but most residential outlets require that they are installed in a suitable "outlet box" to protect against shorts and dampness that could cause a fire or get wet and cause electrocution.

So, measure carefully to see if you can install them where you want them or if you'll need to change your plans slightly due to "wall thickness"....
