New Tow Vehicle!

Good afternoon, after much consideration about finding the proper tow vehicle I had narrowed it down to a F150 with the max tow & max payload package and the Nissan Titan XD. I decided to go with the Titan XD as it's more readily available and can be found on dealers lots, whereas the F150 with max payload package would be a special order, they aren't very many stocked on lots.

The Titan XD has a payload capacity of 2,100lbs which crushes my previous RAM 1500 Laramie of only 1,300. I have attached a pic!

I will need to check on my hitch height, i'm guessing there is a guide on here on how to properly install your hitch?

Better be sure of that payload capacity number and make sure it is for the exact truck you looking at. In other words, that number might be a 2 wheel drive regular cab stripped down version. Maximum payload numbers are usually followed by some very small print or an asterisk or ???? that states, when properly equipped, which usually means what I just described

Gas or Cummins? I've had an eye on the diesels for a while. Nissan is offering some great incentives. Let us know how you like it.

I went with the gas version, i didn't think the reviews and the $$ to go with the diesel was worth it. I attached the door sticker, 2,094 lbs of combined weight. I'm liking the truck, but still getting used to how much bigger it is than my RAM 1500 i have been using for 6 years! I've only towed a short distance to get my trailer out of storage, but it was night and day vs my 1500, most importantly i feel safer with my family riding in this truck knowing it can properly handle my trailer and everything i need to load into the truck.

Nice! I originally wanted a gas version myself but saved 4k by getting a leftover from the previous model year, only diesel was available as a left over and not any gas versions.

Is there a big difference in the payload from gas to diesel? I'm thinking the diesel would be 3-500 lbs less for a similarly equipped truck.

When you made your original post, I thought you were getting a diesel....that is why I suggested that you look at the payload sticker to make sure of the payload capacity. By going with the gas motor, you got approx. 400 lbs more payload. Glad it is working out for you and congrats on the new truck.

I also have a 2016 Titan XD Pro 4X diesel. Have towed my 7500# TT from AZ to Maine and back and it tows fantastic. Spent a month touring NV, Or, & Northern CA for a month, and heading out tomorrow for four weeks touring ID, MT, WY, & UT. No comparison between the XD and any other 1/2 ton PU for towing.
