? for those who have upgrade to LED lights

Looking at doing an LED replacement in our camper and had some questions regarding the LED bulbs, as I've seen quite a range in prices. Is there much difference in the quality/longevity of the bulbs? Any feedback on brightness and color emitted by the bulbs? Are there brands to avoid?

There is a lot of information on the forum. A sticky was created to get people interested in the conversion to LED's some general information. You can find it here:

http://www.keystonerv.org/forums/showthread.php?t=9947

I think you'll find answers to everything except "current sales prices" already posted.

1/2 of mine are cheap Chinese, cheap in price and quality! I've had a few quit so far and they're just not as bright as the one's from the RV store. I've placed these in places where there's not much use like the bedroom and outside.
The RV bulbs = $ but they're much brighter, like a really bright and clear light.
I've read that they're all made in China but that's not true and there really is a difference. I live full time and I notice the difference but if I was to just use the trailer a few weeks a yr I would never buy the RV bulbs as that's an un-needed expense.
The pancake bulbs are the best as they flood the light and there's no shadow effect.

Most of mine (all the 921s) are from the Chinese guy on eBay, but I got the few remainders (1141, 1156 and G4) from Amazon for convenience and speed. I haven't had issues with any of them.

We installed LED's in our Springdale in 2010. We camped in the Springdale for 4 years. All of the LED's were ordered from EBay and shipped from China. Our Cougar is now 1 year old and I had ordered LED's from the same EBay source prior to delivery of the Cougar. I installed them the day we took delivery. On both RV's, not one of them has failed.

I can't say that CW, Superbrite or Amazon is any better or any worse, but I do know that paying $1 per LED assembly is a lot less painful than paying $14.95 for the same thing. And if they work without failing, well ?????

If you happen to take a CW LED off the rack and turn the package over, down at the bottom, in "small print" are the words, "Made in China"

Just sayin'

For the RV , I've ordered the following and no issues so far
Warm white (slightly yellow like old bulbs) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EKN2P60/
Cool white (bright white) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EL0UG86/
Cool white that fits vent-a-hood http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0087XOTWW/
(note: first two were for end table lamps and fixture over dinette - because of length I dunno if they'd fit inside those ceiling mounted fixtures with snap on covers)

However, I ordered these LEDs that fit household style track lights & recessed lights and 25% of them died within a week http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005FO5LAK/
These, though, are lasting quite nicely for household track lights http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AO1FR5I/

So yeah, quality does vary.

We use these, they are white, not blue tinted, but not yellow either. You have to order $25 but that's easy enough. http://www.amazon.com/42-SMD-Replace...ment+led+bulbs

I'm of the same mind as JRTJH.
I bought cheap eBay Chinese LEDs. bought a coupe extra in case, but have not had one fail after 2 seasons. As for quality, the pricey versions may be better, but 14, or 15 TIMES better?? I think not.

I've bought 40 cheap China ones off Amazon. Installed 35 or so. 1 has failed.

Into them for about $50 total.

Half my lights came as LED's, so I found a two-pack of 921's at Walmart as a test to change the fixture near the sink and stove. A bit blue, but OK for the purpose. Never saw them at Walmart before.

Just got my first 2 shipments of LEDs straight from China - all working fine so far. Color temperature is v important IMHO. The ones I just received are cool white with a color temp of 6000K and I find that light artificial and not very comfortable. Another shipment was warm white (4000K) and was much more livable, in fact very similar to the old incandescents they replaced. You might also want to check light output. One batch of 921 replacements lists 195 candela vs 100cd for a different supplier - both listed as equivalent to a 921.
