Carpet removed. Part 1

Last fall I removed most of the carpet and replaced it with linoleum. Finally found the time to post it and happy that it survived a very cold winter.
Here is what I did:
I removed the stair to the bedroom.

I removed the hundreds of staples holding the carpet in place.

Cut and stapled the carpet close to the extension. We were surprised to find that the staple’s holes were hardly visible. So we decided to leave the leaving room linoleum as is.

Quiroule -
Thanks for your 4-part posting of the carpet replacement. The photos, along with the notes, are very helpful. Not only looks great but will be easier to keep clean.

Run into a bit of a snag, as the fresh water inlet tube was concealed with a carpet covered plywood. I replaced it with plywood DW did magic with her paint brush.

Ran into another snag, the feet of the cabinet under the TV were not touching the ground and the space to the ground was not the same at both ends.

So a piece of wild cherry and the surface planer fixed that.

I cut the bedroom carpet close to the bed riser, and then I carefully cut the bedroom and restroom old linoleum at the outer edge and laid it over the new one. Then I cut the new one using this pattern.

I removed the laundry’s trap which was covered with carpet and replaced it with fixed plywood. Then I put in the new stair. Almost goofed, the space between the closed slide-out and the stair in now a little tight, but there is still room for the bent slide-out carpet.

Laid the new linoleum, put a metal strip at the joint with the carpet. Varnished quarter-round along the wall and calking along the shower as it is weave and at the base of the vanity.

Big undertaking! DW's paint job fooled me, looks better than factory finish! Stair turned out very nice! Are you doing the install and what will you use? Do you plan to use trim around the edges?

I did the install and used 1/4 rounds as trim, but not for the stair.
