12 volt split air conditioner

Son wants to add a 12 volt split air conditioner to his trailer, 12000 btu about $800.00 his trailer is only 30 amp so he is worried if adding a regular one would need roof opening and possible wiring and thermostat hook up plus is 30 amp enough to run 2 air conditioners. He has the 12 volt unit in a truck he drives says it works well. Did anyone put one in a travel trailer, thats my question and how did it work?

What's the amperage draw on that? Trucks typically have very robust dc systems, i.e. high capacity batteries and alternator(s). The trailers 12vdc system is restricted by the output of the converter. Another consideration is the wiring and distance from a/c unit to the battery. A high amperage 12vdc load will require large wire (expensive) and the further away the larger the cable required.
