Kitchen Sink

We have a new 2022 Cougar 24 RDS. Haven't even cooked a meal in it yet. Camping this weekend and the kitchen sink backs up. 1/2 bottle of drain cleaner overnight, then plunger action this morning. Nothing. Came home and took off the P trap and drain the pipes. Ran a snake down about 6 ft till I hit something solid. Should have been the sidewall of the 1 60-gallon grey tank. put everything back together and ran some nice hot water, enough to fill up the drainpipes. Bathroom works fine.

Any Ideas guys?

You have 2 Grey tanks on that model.

1 for the bathroom sink and shower.
1 for the kitchen sink.

They also have two separate valves to drain them.
So, have you made sure you have drained that second tank?

The two pull handles in the wet bay, are for the black tank and the bathroom grey tank.

A second handle is located to the right of that wet bay, and just under the edge of the trailer. You might have to get down and look to see it, as it is sometimes not obvious.

Maybe there is a knockout plug that didn’t get removed. You could snake a borescope down there to take a look. But it sounds like it could be a trip to the dealer for a warranty repair.

You nor the dealer have ever ran water into the kitchen sink?
Sounds like the kitchen grey tank is full.
Using drain cleaner in a rv can damage the drain valve seals so I'd recommend not using the stuff.
I would recommend not using a snake either. Your kitchen sink may have the Hepvo bladder type trap, using a snake WILL damage it beyond repair. Not to mention it's a plastic tank, rigorous use of a snake could put a hole in the tank.
Search underneath near the axles you most likely will find another drain valve to drain that tank.

Your tank is full, have you pulled the valve to drain it? Looks like you have 2 30 gal. grey tanks. Did you pull 1 black tank valve and 2 grey valves to drain it?

I'm learning that even though specs say 1 60-gallon tank, they really mean 2 30-gallon tanks.

When I get home tonight, I'll crawl under and take a good look.

Keystone does not list the number of tanks. What they do publish is the total capacity for each holding "system". When viewing the fresh water capacity that number will also include the capacity of the water heater.

Since I have that same trailer, here is a picture showing you where to look for that second pull handle.
As I mentioned earlier, it is tucked up under the edge and not easy to see. You might have to get down on your knees to see it.
Look up next to the frame in the location listed.

Yep, to be fair the specs do not list 1 60-gallon tank.
They just say 60 gallons for Grey.

Thanks Guys!!!

My wife crawled under the camper this afternoon. Found a "black Handle" for the 2nd grey tank.

Just knit picking here, but would it be too much to expect them to print out in their specs that there are 2 30-gallon tanks. How much ink can they save?

And saves me from looking like an idiot.

Didn't the dealer point out all the features to you during your purchase walk through?

Also (at least on ours), there is a label listed as "Grey Tank" on the side of the trailer just above that handle location.

Glad you found the handle.

It is a confusing issue and has been for lots of folks. Don't know why they don't enumerate them but they don't usually. Certainly doesn't make you look like an idiot.....just like most others that have to dig, crawl and use a flashlight to find that "last one". Now you've found it; they seemingly LOVE to put that 2nd one in some out of the way place - one I looked at had the valve handle almost in the center of the trailer side to side and front to back...what a pleasure to dump "that" tank.

Glad you found the handle.
Along with the outside label, your In·Command control panel lists two separate gray tanks with level indications and heater controls for three holding tanks.

Mr. Miller, I bought my old 2002 Cougar and it took the sink filling for me to figure out where the handle was for my "galley" tank. I have to crawl under my slide out and my handle is up just to the rear of my rear driver's side tire. And my wife would never crawl under a trailer so your are blessed having a wife who would. (crawling is a man's work according to she who is in charge).

So, does she agree that cleaning and cooking is a "woman's job"? If you haven't asked yet can you video it when you do? I'd like to see that!

Kind of, quickly did a walk around as fast as possible. Our experience with Camping World was horrible.

Being that we are still working our way through our New To us, Laredo. We too, have the Third Dump Valve. The dealer pointed it out but didn't exactly explain it's function. Actually, didn't explain much other than they Armoralled the wheels.

“Can they print or list that 60 gallon grey water equals two 30 gallon tanks that aren’t cross-connected”

I’ve stopped trying to figure out the RV industry design, engineering & documentation groups. Notice no one touts the educational institutions their people come from?
No institution would want to be associated with graduating such short sighted people without common sense.

Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, Thanks for the laugh of the week!
