Bathroom vent fan

Has anyone tried to wire in a wall switch for the vent fan. It would be a nice convince rather than reaching in the shower to turn it on. However it would take some work to snake a wire over the ceiling and down a wall. Any thoughts?

You can buy wireless switch modules on Amazon....I've used these a few times in the past for other things....

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B083P75T63...v_ov_lig_dp_it

You might/probably would have to take part of the fan assembly apart to access the wiring above it, but this would certainly be much simpler/easier than fishing wires through the ceiling and down a wall in the trailer.

WARNING: If you try to do this, just make sure that the fan does NOT pull more than 5 amps of current when running, as that switch is only rated for 5 amps.

You're Welcome. It's come in handy for me several times with the two different trailers I have had. On my present trailer, which is a Grand Design that uses a product that is similar to the In Command on Keystone, I added six additional switches for lighting control and they were all wireless switches, similar to the one that I linked for you. The receivers still have to be physically wire up, but that usually doesn't involve fishing wires into and through walls....then the battery operated switch can be placed wherever you want them to be. It's almost like magic!

Thanks @xrated for that link. I've only seen the key fob style. Nice to have a wall switch.

In my previous trailer, I was able to fish another wire from the fan down the wall of a closet, where I installed a cheap mechanical timer like this:

https://www.amazon.com/BN-LINK-60-Mi...36943471&psc=1

This was nice to let the fan run for a bit and not worry about forgetting to turn it off since we mostly boondock.

Here are a couple of pics of the setup that I have in mine. I did this two summers ago, and I cannot find the exact same stuff now, but as you can see, wall switches and not FOB type remotes.

Picture of the wall switch. It has three separate switches on that one unit, and I have two of those units/switches....for a total of six switches....

Here is a picture of all six receiver modules....one for each switch and they are wired into my One Control unit (which is similar to the In Command)....

Only one problem. Make sure it's designed for DC.
I missed that one. Duh, should have known better.

AND, read the online install information. The schematics for the switch are wrong. The way it is shown does not pass through the power. I followed his lead and it works perfectly.

Added switch to ours yesterday. used smallest 'cable cord' to run up the wall and to the vent. Now both switches will work the fan so just leave the built in one on and use the one we installed to turn it on and off. mUch easier than using a wooden spoon to flip the switch.
