stereo to stereo dvd replacement
I am looking to swap out my stock stereo for a stereo with dvd player.
Not as simple as I thought and not sure if/how to do this.
photos of the two attached. first thing you notice is there is a single connector plug for the stereo and two connector plugs for the stereo/dvd. As luck would have it the configuration for the wires in stereos are completely a different configuration. It's a rats nest of wiring behind the stereo as well.
my hope was just use rca jacks to the connect to the tv.
Any thoughts, is this possible?

What all are you trying to hook up? You mention changing a stock stereo, I assume no dvd/tv connections, for a new stereo with a built in dvd player which you will then connect to the TV? Have you already purchased the new unit? If not, I would add an outboard DVD BluRay player since I don't think you'll find BluRay in a combo unit.
For me pictures of the backs would help vs the ones you sent. The wiring coming from those plugs should have labels on them telling you where they go...do they?

The DVD was not invented when my camper was first sold in 2002. Since there was a huge hole for the stereo and two speakers, I replaced the original with a similar had a bunch of things that didn't work. I bought a stand alone DVD player and if I recall right, it is connected via HDMI to the television. Why not go that route? Sorry, I didn't want to download your .pdf files so didn't see what was in them.

We dry camp a lot and having the stereo and dvd in one 12v unit works better for us.

the photos show the diagram/label for the connectors and the associated wire placement.
Would like a dvd player/stereo combo which is what I purchased.
changed out pdfs in original post for easier viewing.

I thought the OEM stereo was AC and not DC. How are you going to get DC to the electronics you are considering?

it's DC so no issue there. On my last camper I was able tp patch my 12v tv to power in the j-box by my cable connection.
As I have an AC TV this time I was going to use a small inverter and try to patch into the 12v system for power.

Do you have a 12vdc TV? Can you not use the HDMI ARC connection to the TV or does it not have one?
Didn't see previous post about 12vdc tv. What about the ARC connection?

If I understand your question you wish to simply unplug the old and plug in the new. That's not going to happen unless you can find an adapter. You might call Crutchfield Stero and ask them but no one here can tell what camper you have much less what radio. The easiest thing would be to identify, label and cut the wires to the old plug and connect those wires to the new plugs.
From your 2 photos it looks to me like they have the same video connections. Are you sure the old unit doesn't have a DVD player?

thanks for all the help, I'm coming to the conclusion that I should tell my kids they are spoiled and pick up a darn book!
We are camping, no screen time!

If your in Gig Harbor I don’t think I’m very far from you. I used to do competition level car stereo. With some better pictures I could write up the connection conversion for you or possibly come wire it up if need be. Just let me know and we can figure something out. Might be able to help each other out. I’m trying to find someone to scoot a 5th wheel over a few feet.
