Question Anderson 5th wheel hitch

Is anyone using the new hitch with a newer GMC Denali? WE are finding out that there is a higher profile hitch to use due to the deep bed of the newer Denali trucks. But then the ARM of the trailer will have to raise ver high to clear the bed rails and tail gate. any ideas? thank you

So a little lost on your request, so you have a new truck and the height of the bed rails from the floor of the bed is taller? If so, how much taller?
Is your Anderson at it's tallest setting.

There are typically two ways to adjust the bed rail clearance, raise the hitch or lower the pin box.

My 2500 GMC Denali had the same issue just going from a 2019 GM 2500. I dropped the hitch (trailer side) one notch and put the anderson @ the top and all is good.

about 2" difference from my old truck.

I have the standard andersen hitch, with the ball in the lowest position, and the pin box in the highest, and I still have to put a two inch lift on the camper suspension to get near level. I can't imagine what this new taller hitch will do to truck/camper alignment.

That’s why I switched to the Pullrite 2600. I love the idea of the Andersen, the Pullrite gives me the same concept and roughly same weight, but is made out of steel. I’m still considering switching to a Gen Y pin box and getting rid of the hitch altogether.

Our recent upgrade was from an 01 fleetwood pioneer 28ft bumper drag behind a 97 F250 psd to an 08 raptor 299mp (33 ft) behind a 2010 chevy cclb drw duramax allison I chose the B&W companion that drops into my pre existing B&W flip over goose ball the hitch was a grand and I didn't need any more parts brackets etc and it also saved a ton of install time effort and sweat
So far ive got about 100 miles towing it home ( considering the new rig is twice the old one it tows like a dream in my short experience ) it's also pretty nice to be able to back off 1 bolt pull the handle in the wheel well and carry it away to get my bed empty for lumber etc

Does your keyboard contain punctuation marks? Your comments on many threads are incomprehensible.

Are you talking 2020 and later Denali ? I have 2018 Denali and the ball stud was set on the low side and never nicked the bed with 235/85/ 16 tires . I went back to the 235/80/16 tires and had to raise the ball up one notch the height side. I built Jack stands for my electric landing gear that helps . Anderson makes a landing gear Jack stand .

The companion is a good hitch, but I have a short bed truck and I don’t want to deal with a heavy hitch anymore. The Pullrite gives me about 5” additional cab clearance (which is why I haven’t switched to the Gen Y yet) and only weighs 60 lbs. Takes me about 5 mins to install, drop in in the ball, insert the pins, torque the top nut, the set bolt and the tighten the lock nut. Reverse that when I take it out and pull the center ball. I have the factory puck system so I don’t have to pull any handles in the fender area, just rotate the tab on top of the ball.

Nice I'm glad it's working well for you we just did our first trip with the new rig man does that duramax ever pull . A world of difference from the old 7.3 and rock solid too

I am going to need a backup cam or a spidermonkey as a spotter lol

If you think the 2010 Duramax pulls nice, you should try one with the L5P. I had a 2011 LML and loved it, but could believe the difference with the L5P in my 2019. A lot more power and better fuel economy. My only complaint is that they reprogrammed them and it uses more DEF. I have an observation cam, it’s not bad using it to back up, still prefer to have the DW stand back there and call me on the Bluetooth. No substitute for eyes that can see all sides and look up at trees or eves.

Yea I put the little lady out with her phone as well did everything I could to communicate the fact that I can see in front of the truck because they put the windshield there and it would be a big help if she went to the back of the trailer and gave me a report on her findings

Consuqently I just ordered a set of rear stabilizer jacks 🤠

It took a few times of me getting out of the truck to point things she should be looking for out to her. Also had to make her understand that hand signals don’t do me any good if I can’t see her. I don’t like using the camera for backing up, I guess too many years of using the mirrors and watching the cab corner on the truck. I’ve never come close to hitting the cab with my current set up, but still watch it like a hawk out of habit.

I run big stuff at work ( 988 cat Paling truck that grosses 350k and a few other thinga Euclid etc ) here has way more space I took the stab off the left rear backing out of a driveway field across the road is higher than road couldn't see left rear corner when rig articulates so I plowed a little earth and twisted the stab to junk
