Goodyear G614 vs Gdyr Endurance
We have a. 2018 3160RL...time to change tires...Tires we have now are load range G, the Endurance are !old range E...G's are $300 more per tire...Is there that much of a difference. Our rig is 36 ft long.
Any suggestion on a good Rv Tire for St235/85 R16 G rated replacement t?

The specs on your rig show that it came with 235/80R 16G (load range G) tires. With a GVWR of 16,000 lbs it is my opinion that you should stay with load range G tires.
Take a look at the Sailun S637 (Trailer) ST235/85R16 G or ST235/80R16 G.

I'd also recommend the Sailuns. Most likely near 1/2 the price of the GYs & every bit as good a tire!
My last 5er came with GY 614s, 5 years later it was time for new tires, I upgraed to Sailun 17.5" H rated tires & new 17.5" aluminum wheels for the price of 3 of the GY614 tires only.
I also upgraded to disc brakes at that time, both were some of the best $$ spent on any upgrade I've ever done. Got all from Performance Trailer Braking done on site where we were work kamping.

yeah i wouldn’t skimp on the load range…i have seen people go UP a load range on the forum but don’t think i’ve seen anyone go backwards…normally a topic like this would have our tire engineers furiously typing away…maybe they will chime in

I agree Brian. I don't think any legitimate tire shop would install a lower rated tire than the OEM rated tire on anything with a VIN number. If they did, I wouldn't trust them to change the tires on a kids bicycle.

Our rig originally came with the Goodyear Marathons, AKA Chinabombs. After five tire failures, I upgraded to the G614’s. Last year, I needed new tires and couldn’t find the G614’s, so upgraded to the Sailuns, and saved a bunch of money along with getting a higher rated tire. These are serious heavy duty tires.

No way would I down grade from a G rated 14 ply to an E rated 10 ply on that fifth wheel...
The GY G614 is way over priced and there are several tires at less cost that are as good if not better...
The GY G614 is an LT tire that used to come OEM on Montanas but they have switched over to Sailun S637 series... Excellent tire... Excellent load capacity... almost 700 lbs per tire more capacity the the GY G614
I just replaced my aged 14 ply tires with a set of Sailun S637s in 235/85x16 on my Alpine...
One other ST tires that are very good would be the Hercules 901 series

Throughout the industry the rule is, replacement tires must provide a load capacity equal to or greater than what the OE tires provide/provided.

Look at the Hartland tires from Discount Tire. Much cheaper than the G614 and Endurance. Been running them for 5+ years on all my trailers without an issue. In fact, I’m replacing the ones on my 5er this year, they’re 6 years old and have around 20k miles on them. Still look new, but changing because of age. Normally change tires every 5 years, guess a year slipped away from me somewhere.
