I’ll agree with most of what you said. The Schwintek caused a lot of problems on the lot with operator error. I always told customers to make sure the moves them all the way in and out and held the switch for a couple seconds after. On the lot, it was common to walk into one (especially motorhomes that always had power available) and have a slide jammed from operator error.
Additionally, they are about the worst system there is for manual override.

The part I don’t agree with is the east/west slide. I love our bed slide, haven’t ever had an issue. Wouldn’t want an rv without one. Don’t really see how it’s any diffeeent than any other slide, they all go east/west.

Did BAL try to copy Lippert:

https://balrvproducts.com/products/o...ct-slide.shtml

It uses dual synchronized motors and a controller like the schwintek. Had the displeasure of working on one in a Jayco.

That's the system that's on my 2018 328RL Outback, and I must be one of a few OP's?....that actually appreciate the ease of operation.
Like anything else their is always the potential for failure, but I'm big on checking all screws; fixtures, cables, switches, etc.../ maintenance on a regular basis.
So far so good!

I have seen enough cracked filon just in front of that east/west slide which was the result of a cracked Lippert frame to convince me that it wasn't for me. More than happy that many folks have not had a problem; just don't see a need for this potential problem and besides, I can't afford another trailer.
