A bumper pull with 13K gross weight and the generator will have a tongue weight of north of 1700 lbs.

Yeah im hoping its not north of 2000lbs with all fluids and nothing in the garage as I boondock often but dont always haul toys. Getting a new Silverado 2500 with descent payload but i dont think the receiver will handle anything north of 2000 tongue. Thank you for the reply

The Carbon 35 shipping weight (standard equipment only with no propane/no batteries) is 9848 pounds. Tongue weight with the same configuration is 1535 pounds. That works out to a tongue weight of 15.6% when shipped from the factory. Add 60 pounds of propane, a couple of golf cart batteries and the optional generator and you're looking at 400+ pounds additional tongue weight. That puts the empty trailer with propane, batteries and the generator at around 2000 pounds on the tongue "before any cargo is added."

I'd suspect a loaded configuration with full fresh water tank and an empty garage, the tongue weight would be approaching or maybe even above 2300 pounds. Looking at the floorplan, the majority of storage space appears to be forward of the axles as is the black tank and the bathroom gray tank. Fortunately, there's a 30 gallon fuel tank under the garage, but with no drain on it, filling it full other than in the early spring is probably not a great idea when it comes to storing fuel through the winter.....

This is an interesting scenario. My '19 F350 has a TW capacity of 'only' 1500 lbs, with the standard (gas engine) supplied 2.5" receiver. The 3" receiver, supplied with the diesel, likely has a bit more.

So, what does someone do in this situation? Buy a 450/4500 to tow a bumper pull, or have the manufacturer's raised the receiver capacity, along with everything else, on 3/4 and 1 tons?

For you guys with a 2020+ 3/4 or 1 ton trucks, what is the rating stamped on your receiver?

My truck has a Class V receiver. I've not looked on it for weight ratings but here is a link that shows the Class V is probably what a situation like that would require....if the rest of the truck was up to it;

The tag on my 2019 Duramax shows 1500 lb tongue weight rating. It is a class V 2.5” receiver so that’s a little confusing. Keep in mind that a properly adjusted WDH will remove some of that tongue weight. If i had to guess how much, I’d say around 500 lbs.

I looked at quite a few explanations and they vary all over the place on a 2 1/2" Class V, from 1200lbs, to 1700lbs., 1800lbs. then the weights in the link I attached (all with a wdh). The best I can surmise is that at about 1500lbs. "suspected" tongue weight by calculating and estimating you need to be hitting the scales all the time to keep that weight down one way or another on those types of hitches using the wdh and by off loading surplus stuff.

I have a 16 gmc 2500 diesel….2.5” receiver, wdh, and carbon 35….i never weighed everything, just figured 15% rule and good….was more concerned that the dealer gave me the wrong wdh arms (the 1k rated ones vs 2k rated)….got that fixed and good to go! I do have my batteries (and inverter, etc) in the garage and a tool chest on the a frame - probably a wash weight wise. Combo drives nice and no concerns!
