The 2001 Cougar line did not have an inverter, so there is no 120 VAC power when not plugged into shore power or a generator.
That said, you posted that there is an aftermarket inverter installed.
IF that inverter is connected to a circuit or to a specific outlet, then it would probably provide 120 VAC to that circuit or to that outlet by using battery power to produce AC voltage.
That said, there's NO WAY TO KNOW what the "aftermarket installer" did when installing that inverter. It could be connected to a dedicated outlet, to a dedicated circuit (multiple outlets) or it may require an extension cord plugged into the inverter outlet to deliver power to the plugs on that extension cord....
Essentially, if you have an inverter and it's working properly, it "should" change battery power into shore power. But, where it goes, how many outlets it serves or whether it's even installed correctly so it doesn't electrocute someone if they touch the shore power cord pins is anybody's best guess....
You need to do some thorough evaluation of what that inverter connects to and whether it's safe to use.
