Yup, the tanker trucks I've seen are mostly tagged with the name of the fuel delivery company and not the brand of fuel inside the tank. Locally where I live there are a few exceptions, Sheetz is one of them.

Yeah gasoline is a generic commodity. The difference is the additive packages, and hopefully oversight of the station owners.
Although, a couple of Chevron stations just made local TV news for no response to complaints of water in the gas. State regulators haven't helped either. Ongoing story.
I saw a Speedway just last week re-branded to 7/11.

After working 30+ years in the industry I'll guarantee if there's water in the fuel it's the issue at the retail establishment or trucking companies NOT the fuel refiner, too checks for quality on the refiners end.

More than I wanted to know about gasoline:
https://www.sheetz.com/subpages/faqs.jsp#q06 Where does your gas supply come from? Sheetz, Inc. is not in the business of buying or refining crude oil from any country. Furthermore, we do not import gasoline but instead buy it on a domestic basis. Therefore, we do not know or control where the crude oil or gasoline comes from. We buy gasoline from refineries located on the U.S. East and Gulf coast and other trading companies who are in the business of purchasing and refining crude oil. The U.S. needs to import about 60% of its crude oil requirements and 10% of its gasoline needs. Currently, the leading supplier of crude oil to the U.S. is Canada, followed by Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, Mexico and the United Kingdom. However, because crude oil is transported to the U.S. from so many places and immediately "mixed" in tanks and petroleum pipelines for transportation to the refineries, it's impossible to determine exactly "where" the crude oil came from. Likewise, in most areas of the U.S. gasoline from different refiners is mixed together for transportation by a common pipeline network. Additionally, a gallon of gasoline may be traded several times before reaching its final destination, further complicating tracking a gallon's origin.

Jim when I was a kid in the late 1950's early 1960's my dad would fill up at the Red Head gas station. He new the owner and when he would pull up (back when they pumped the gas) he would ask the owner "what flavor is it this week?" Red Head would buy whatever was the cheapest at that time. If the guy said "Sinclar" then when would pass a Sinclar station my day would boast about getting the same gas for 2 cents less. It's been a common practice for a long time.

I'm not sure how many will remember when Conoco had Conotane, which was a "86 octane regular". Their "regular regular" was 87 octane.

In Denver, around 1970 or 1971, there were two gas stations on opposite corners of First and Sheridan in west Denver. One station was Exxon and one was Conoco. They got into a gas war and Conotane went down to 17 cents a gallon. I was sitting in the office (my RV repair shop was on one of those corners) and watched the Exxon truck deliver "Conotane" to the Conoco station after pulling out of the Exxon station....

That was my first exposure to the "dirty truth about gas station management"....

Well I guess you can’t control where the fuel comes from but if you want to shop American then you can control where the money ends up. ( although it probably ends up in offshore accounts and investments overseas anyway)

I agree. We try to buy everything U.S.A. as much as possible. Sometimes it seems pretty impossible.

Maybe those of us a little older will remember Clark 100 stations back in the 60's and 70's. That is all they sold, 100 octane premium until the middle 70's sometime.

How much would you give to fill that 38 fountain up with 100 octane for just one more run out to the keys?

Truth be known, I'd be happy to just get back 'on the salt' in ANYBODY'S boat!
It's all about the voyage, not about the ride! (Yes it is fun to think about the hundred octane!)
When Brenda and I finally get back to Maryland to have lunch with Marshall and his lovely bride I happen to know another fella in Maryland that we might trick into a little ride....

I agree. 35 years in Shells Deer Park Texas complex and 5 years upstream.

Follow up on this.

Greensboro is open for a few weeks now.

Salisbury turns over tomorrow and will be open in about 3 weeks.

I saw a Speedway just last week re-branded to 7/11.

7-11 bought out Speedway earlier in the year. They will be rebranding most of them to 7-11’s.

A few weeks ago I did routine maintenance on the Yamaha. Oil, filter, etc. Son took a day off work last Thursday. Hey, lets take the boat out on the bay and be sure old Dad can still do it. Thursday morning a cool front passes with a little rain. No wind here. We hit the ramp at Fort Anahuac about noon. Into Trinity Bay we could tell...it ain't good. 3-4ft rollers and whitecaps. Ran about 4 miles south with waves at our backs. Nope, call it, lets go home. He's driving, I'm getting soaked. I could hear the airslots burping on the 21ft NauticStar. Yeah it was rough. Back at the ramp in 40 minutes. It's been too long since a taste of the salt. Maybe again Thursday. And...yeah old Dad can still do it...no issues.
