City water question

I recently bought a 2005 Challenger 32tkb to fulltime, and when I hooked city water up to it the water came shooting out of this hose underneath the water inlet. I have 3 hoses, one appears to be capped off (the single hose) and the other two arent. Water comes out of the left, rust-colored hose. What do these go to and what is the proper way for them to be connected? Should they both just be capped off?

The single hose that is capped is your fresh tank drain. The two hoses, white and red are your low point drains and should have a valve on each one inside the rig somewhere. Once you close the valves you should be good to go. If the rig has been winterized, make sure the lines are all flushed and any bypass valves for the water heater are placed back in their proper position and before turning on the water heater make sure the water heater tank is full of water.

What Bob said is correct. The low point drains might also need threaded caps on them that are missing. My trailer has threaded caps on the fresh water and low point drains, not valves inside.

Often times, on new trailers, the caps for the low point drains are shipped/stored in the outside compartment of the water heater. Many owners and dealers just "follow through with that storage location" and it's become a "first look location" for missing low point drain caps.

So, check your water heater compartment, you may find the missing caps there. If not, ask your dealership where they are. They're a part of the "delivery package" and the trailer is not functional without them.

As it's a 15 yr old trailer I'm guessing the po forgot them.

Thanks, I’m still new to this so i wouldnt have even known which direction to begin looking to find the names of these. The caps were in the storage compartment, along with a huge stash of lightbulbs- score!
