Gravity fed water

I’m trying to add the ability to add water in a off grid situation
But the valve won’t allow water to flow freely
I tried both settings and opened the kitchen faucet as a addition vent but I’m getting Zero flow!
ANY IDEAS?

How about a sealed valve stem to “pressurize” the system. Either run by a 12v inflator run by the TV or some brands DeWalt/Ryobi/etc have 18v versions.

Are you trying to fill the freshwater tank through the vent? That is an issue with those set-ups, makes it damn near impossible to add water unless it is from a pressurized source. I have read some good ideas on here so I am sure someone will chime in with a workaround for you.

No I’m using the same inlet you would use for city water and filling the fresh water tank. I used both lever positions 1) fill tank & 2)city water

Rob is correct. If your trailer has a closed city water/tank fill system (no open pour in fitting), the system will need to be pressurized to supplement the tank contents. I have an "emergency spare" water pump that I can use in the 5er if needed and set it up to plug into the 7-way electric connector on the truck with hoses for a 35 gallon external tank we can use. That's probably way more than you want to do.

Your rig should also have an "overflow/vent" outlet for the tank. It will be an upside down U shape, probably black, and may be on the opposite side of the trailer from the fill side. Lightly tap the upside down U shaped fitting UP and it should slide off. There may be a slip in screen to remove. This will give you a small hose (like maybe 3/8") vent that you can use to gravity feed into the tank. I have no idea how effective this might be. I've heard others have used this to pour Clorox solution into the tank for disinfection purposes.

The above two methods plus the "winterization" method are the only ways I know of supplementing the fresh water tank contents.

This is how I do it now!!

Did you remove the cap on the blue water tank vent? Can't tell from my tablet.

Are you connected to the hose connection? It won't work.

Use a 3/8" hose in the vent opening.

Or, buy a battery powered bilge pump that goes down in the Aquatainer.

If you have the inlet like mine, either fill tank or city water, there is an anti siphon valve that has a spring. Your gravity container probably doesn’t have enough “head pressure” to overcome that. A simple “clean water” pump run by a 3/8” drill would work. Your drill can be cordless.

I figured there must be a check valve.
Just thought it would be a simple solution to set up water jug and gravity feed it into the RV fresh water tank. With out standing around.
So I’ll use a drill powered pump as a last resort!!

Thanks all

A bit more laborious than the set it and forget it approach I was shooting for.

Yes vent is wide open
I blew into the end and couldn’t move any water into RV holding tank.
There must be a check valve.
I was thinking this would be a simple and effective way to add 5-10 gallons of water in a pinch.

There was a way wrote up on here awhile back about being able to run the hose from your water jug to the winterize port and switch to winterize on , now take a hose from the outdoor shower and hook that up to city water port and switch to fill. Now turn on the water pump and pump water into fresh water tank. I haven't tried it yet but it should work.

Try a pump like this, a 5 gal container should take about 5 min.
