Filling fresh water
We are getting ready to dry camp for our first time for a night and are trying to fill our fresh water tank. When we turn the valve back to normal, water pours back out of the valve. What are we doing wrong?

Welcome to the forum.
A little more information would be great. Even a picture if possible.
What valve?

I can’t figure out how to attach the pic on here... *♀️ We filled the fresh water tank via the power fill port. When we turn the valve indicator from “fill” to “normal flow” and turn in the pump, water gushed back out of the power fill port.

Ok. If you look where you attach the hose, take the screen off. There will be a spring loaded plunger in the center. It’s probably stuck, just use a small screwdriver and tap it. Turn the water pump back on and see if it seals. If it’s fixed your good to go, if not then you’ll need to replace it.

Thank you. We are in the road now, but will check when we stop. Is that called the check valve? We heard that on a Facebook page.

I’ve always called it the city water check valve.

Your very welcome. There are a few different styles of the fitting, so if you need to replace it, take it with you.

As an "emergency work around" to keep you traveling, you can go to any hardware store and buy a male garden hose cap and screw it into the city water fitting as a "cap". It will prevent water from flowing out of the fitting. It's not a "fix" and you'll still need to replace the city water access/check valve (if it won't reseat) but the garden hose cap will keep you traveling with water in the tank until you can find the parts and the time to fix it correctly.

John: thanks for adding that “fix”. Been over 100 degrees all week at work so my brain is fried.

Tapping the plunger on the city water check valve worked great! And I appreciate the temp fix trick in case we ever need it. Thanks a ton!
