flush king reverse flush valve....it's adjustable!

i recently purchased and used the flush king valve and it works great; much better than the black tank flush system on the trailer. However, the gate valve and water hose attachment are "in line" which makes it very awkward and almost impossible to use a small flow meter with the water hose to monitor how much water is being back flushed; don't want to over fill the black tank. I discovered that the video on Amazon that accompanies the description of the valve shows that the gate valve is adjustable. The gate valve can be twisted (rotated) such that it is not in-line with the hose attachment, which makes it much easier to attach the hose with a flow meter. My gate valve assembly was a bit stiff to rotate, but became easier with a few twists. Hope this helps someone.

Don - I don’t think you could fill any of the tanks (black or gray) to overflow inside the trailer unless you had “fire hose” water pressure. The black pipe outlet and sewer hose connection are lower elevation than the tops of the tanks. I simply let the garden hose run until the “head pressure” of the water building up and filling the tank pushes back on the hose flow…then I turn off the garden hose (or close the hose valve) and let the water gush out. By the way - I run the backflow hose and the tank flush at the same time and the tank reaches maximum head pressure quicker (i.e. - the tank fills quicker.).

Again - fire hose level of pressure could push the water up into the inside of the RV! But I have never found a hose bib with that level of pressure.

This worked with my previous Laredo travel trailer and my current Montana. I never monitor the quantity of water that I use for backflush. I just hook up the hose, turn on the OEM tank flush and let it rip until the head pressure pushes back.

Don, I also use a water flow meter to make sure I don't flood the bathroom when back washing the black tank. And yes, it does much better than the tank flush system on the TT. Like you, I figured out that I could twist the blade valve to the side to get better access to the hose connection.

Maybe someone better explain how the bathroom would get flooded using your gadget. Are you closing the main valve when trying to use this?

Here's what we're talking about:

And yes, this adds an additional blade valve with which to back fill the tank and wash it out. This system works great for cleaning the black tank, as long as you don't over fill it.

Does the pipe to the black tank have to be a straight shot to the blank tank?
Where the flush king attaches the gray tank looks to be straight on and the black to the side. Will flush king still be effective?

The Flush King just back fills the black tank. It's not meant to blast water into the black tank for cleaning. So yes, it would be effective for any black tank. When I have time at the dump station I'll back fill, and dump, the black tank multiple times giving it a good cleaning.

If you have a straight drop from the toilet into the black tank, a wand with a spinner head down thru the toilet will out perform any backwash contraption. Besides, the wand with the spinner head will also clean off the level sensors where that isn't possible by simply back washing.
We don't backwash oil tanks on tanker ships, we use butterworth machines which are basically the same principle as the wand with the spinner on the end!

Thank you, very good information. I did buy the wand with the spinner because I thought it would do an overall better job.

Now that you have your Flush King, you do not need to attach a garden hose to back flush.

After attaching the Flush King, empty the black tank completely.
Then close the valve on the Flush King leaving the black tank valve open.
Now ... open the grey tank valve. The more water there is in the grey tank, the greater the force of the back-flush. This back flush will be much more agressive than using the garden hose.
Count to 10 and then close the grey tank valve.
Now, open the Flush King again and dump the black tank.

Stand back and be amazed how much more comes out of the tank!

If your grey tank is full, you can do this for 3 back-flushes. After the last, close the black tank valve. You'll still have enough grey water to flush the hose.

Actually, this works anywhere and you are not using additional water. It's repourposing the grey water, and if you do this EVERY time you dump your tanks, your black tank will always be relatively clean. If you have a washing machine that dumps into the grey tank, you are adding laundry soap water to the black tank this way, helping to wash it out even better.

Doing it this way... you don't need a garden hose attached at all.

I backflush after every other dump with the flush king. I back flush twice with 20 gal of water, use the black tank flush with about 40 gal then backflush two more times with 20 to 25 gal. This is only if I have FHUs. If I’m at a dump station I quickly use the black tank flush the back flush later when I can.

This is the same way we do it!
