Vantage Water Heater
Our new Vantage 32FLS is at our dealer awaiting Spring so we can take it home. Can anyone tell me if the water heater is both gas & electric or gas only? Thanks. Fran

Since it's possible that different water heaters "could" be installed in the exact same make and model of trailer, it's not really possible for any of us to tell you with 100% certainty what is in your particular unit.
That said, it's highly likely that the water heater will be both propane and 110vac electric since that seems to be the standard these days.
The only way to be absolutely certain is to look at the heater in your trailer. A phone call to the dealer should take care of that.

Our '12 Hornet 27RBS is both electric and gas. It has a toggle switch inside next to the tank status that allows us to choose whether to use gas or electricity just for the hot water heater. I would think that if yours was dual heat as well, you would have that switch.

Interesting .... The keystone brochure for Vantage lists : 10 gallon gas DSI water heater and bypass with instant hot feature) No mention of electric . While most other models offer : Gas/electric water heater with quick recovery) So it may be possible that Vantage only offers gas only. Only the crew that built it that day know for sure. Like Steve said ... a call to the dealer may be in your future.

Looking at the Keystone website like hankpage mentioned it does say under the AdVantage package 10 gallon DSI gas/electric, so I'd bet it's both. I would think with that level you would get both.

Vantage water heater
My 2012 32FLS has a 10 gal. heater both propane and 110 volt AC. You can use either one individually or both simultaneously for a faster heat up.

my 29rls has both gas and electric, and on the control panel you can select either or both to get increased heating capacity so I expect all models are the same.

Thanks for the replies folks. I thought the salesman said it had both gas & electric but the Vantage literature was confusing to me. This forum is a great source of information.

Our 32FLS has both electric and gas. Funny, reading through all the pamphlets I have on the RV, there is no mention of a gas/electric water heater.

Vantage Water Heater
When we took delivery of our 32FLS, the dealer advised that there was no advantage in terms of recovery time to turning on both the electric and gas elements to the water heater. In fact, he said we might damage the heater by doing so. Don't know if that's hooey or not, but we've followed his instructions so far. When hooked up to shore power, we use the electric; otherwise the gas.

If you go to the Vantage section of Keystone's website and then select Features, down near the bottom of the list you will find AdVantage PACKAGE (Mandatory) which lists:
Stainless steel appliance package
Front and rear fiberglass caps
Recessed LED lighting throughout
Residential pull-out sprayer faucet
7 foot vaulted ceilings
10 gallon gas/electric DSI water heater with bypass
All-in-one convenience center
Invisa-pull gate valves
Power tongue jacks
High gloss sidewalls
That should pretty well settle the issue.

I wasn't aware there was an 'issue'.

Steve, Typical Keystone mix-ups ... the same page under appliances lists:
AM/FM/CD/Stereo with DVD player and MP3 hookup
6 cu. Ft. two door refrigerator
3 burner range
10 gallon gas DSI water heater and bypass with instant hotā€ feature (The typo is theirs)
Wall mount thermostat controlled A/C
30,000 BTU furnace
I guess that would confuse anyone ............... I am pretty sure they all come with gas/electric unless ordered other wise.

Second the Total Hooey! We have used ours with both, most of the time. The gas burner, as was explained to me, is to speed up the reheat time. The electric is great for dishes and hand washing. The dual burner is for bathing and other time and water consuming things.
Use em both!

Vantage Water Heater
I'll admit the dealer's explanation didn't make a lot of sense!
