Looking to Moving up to 217RBS

We now have a 17ft Casita Freedom, thats the one with bunk beds and no bathroom. But the no bathroom in not why we want to change TT's, it's the bed that is in the front and lies across the trailer so anyone sleeping on the inside has to crawl over the other person to get up during the night if one need to. Also as there is no space around the bed it is a bitch to make up.
We haven't seen a 217RBS yet as they are not at the dealers yet but have seen the floorplan on the Bullet web site and have seen the 24 RBS which is the same but it is 28ft long compared to 24ft of the 217 which is more to our liking and does not weight so much that I would have to buy a new TV.
The have a unique bathroom setup, you go into the bathroom and there is a sink, medicine cabinet and a closed in shower, then to the left you open a sliding door and the toilet is in there and there is a door to the outside for one to enter or exit if they wish.
Neither my wife or I really care if the is a toilet and will probably use that area as storage, we usually get a site close to the bathrooms and have no problems in the last three years getting one as we reserve in January to make sure we can.
You can find the 217RBS floorplan here http://www.keystonerv-bullet.com/ind...t&model=217RBS

That’s a nice setup. I like that it has a “real” shower. And the slide will give you more inside space. I’m surprised you’d rather use the site bathroom. Hopefully as soon as you get this one, you’ll come to enjoy having your own bathroom. Especially on cold nights.

Welcome to the forum Greysquirrel.

If a "walk-around bed" is your first priority, you might also look at the Passport 199ML (Express Super Lite).

It's a very similar floorplan to the Bullet 217RBS -both have a "walk-around bed"- but the Passport
is only 21' 9" long. The Bullet is 25' 4" long, and has a larger bathroom.

Passport 199ML (Express Super Lite)

Happy trails!

Thanks Terry, that does look like it would do us and it is not that heavy so I would have no problem towing, thanks again and I will look for one.

Welcome to the forum, Greysquirrel. You didn't mention what your tow vehicle is but there is very little difference between the 217RBS and the 246RBS. If you could tow one you probably could tow the other. I also believe you will enjoy having your own bathroom at night. About the length - remember, on the Bullet that includes the tongue so that's not inside space. I think either would work well but you can put a 28 footer just about anyplace you could put a 25 footer.

I was looking at the 246 and it may be pushing it with my TV, it is a MBML BOF not a unibody model and all the BOF's were rated at 5000 lbs and 750 tongue weight while the new unibodys are rated at 7200 lbs towing the same as the early European models were. Some say the American rating was just MB playing it safe with American driver who tend to max out everything and if they said 7200 lbs they would try and tow 10000 lbs. My hitch is bolted to the frame with two angle brackets bolted on in front of the hitch, it is a factory towing package and not an aftermarket hitch.
I have lots of time to make up my mind as we are going to keep the Casita for this season unless I find a deal to good to pass up.

I agree with KanTC. I have the 199ml and the floor plan was just right for us. It tows very easy. As for the bathroom, it is nice to have the tub instead of the corner shower the 217RBS has. You may even wind up using it instead of the camp showers!

Camping World in Spartanburg SC has one listed with a number of pictures and it looks like a nice camper and would do us fine as we are weekend warriors that camp 5 3-4 day weekends and a week in the spring and a week in the fall. I also like the Premier 19 fbpr but is cost 5k more and that is a lot of money to sit in our yard the rest of the year, seem like poor money management when you don't have a lot to spend. My wife says she is not going to retire till she is 70 which is 15 years from now when I likely will be on the other side of the grass so we likely will never full time it or take month long trips. I will call CW on Wed. and if they still have it I will take the 130 mile round trip to look at it. I don't plan to buy till next season after I sell my trailer. Unless of course the offer me a deal I can't refuse which is very unlikely.
