My black and grey tanks valves are switched

My black tank value releases the water in my grey tank and grey tank value release my black tank waste. What wrongs and will it hurt my travel trailer? Thanks.

Mine was the same way. I just swapped the labels for the valves. No problems now and it shouldn't hurt anything as long as you know which is which.

Do you mean that the lables (stickers) on the side of the RV indicate that the black releases the gray contents and vice versa? or do you mean that when you pull the black tank valve, the gray status indicator lights on the inside information panel indicate the gray tank is empty and the black tank is still full?

If it's the stickers on the side of your RV that are labled wrong, that's been a Keystone issue for at least the past 5 years. Either pull the stickers off, or if you're really intent on having the stickers on your RV, then contact the dealer to get new stickers. Usually, once you pull them off, they won't stick again and stay in place.

If it's the status indicators, then the tanks are probably wired wrong (reversed wiring). The easiest way to fix that is to rewire the status panel. If you're not familiar with electrical/electronic wiring it might be best to leave that task to the dealer or to someone who is competent to do the job for you.

The status lights are correct. The stickers are wrong. Mine should have the black tank sticker for the left value and the grey tank for the right. Thanks.

Pretty much standard with the Keystone trailers that the dump valves are mislabeled..

They make a clear connection pipe that you can attach to the dump valve and then attach to your hose, you see what comes out so there is no question what tank is being emptied. This clear connector, about $5.00 at Camping World, is also a great help in knowing how much is still draining from the tanks. Also a great help with Black tank flush showing if you're getting it cleaned or not.

Keystone solved the problem with the stickers misapplied on my trailer ... They left the stickers off completely!!! "Black is back" is my mantra (I printed labels on a label maker).

My labels were on over the wrong gate valves too.
When the trailer was brand new on our driveway we noticed something weird was going on when we were checking things out. We ran some pink antifreeze down the black tank and confirmed the labels were in the wrong place.
We simply switched the labels around and had a good laugh about what might have happened had we not noticed before we went 'camping'.

They've been doing that on purpose for years know. They do that to teach a lesson to those that think it's ok to dump your grey on the ground. Tends to leave a lasting impression when standing in poo water!

Question Black & Grey tank, monitor panel, and sewer sprayer

OK, So Keystone has a problem with identifying Black and Grey tanks, I can live with that. But my monitor panel registers the wrong tanks also. And, the Sewer Sprayer that is supposed to clean out the Black tank is hooked up to the Grey Tank. ??? I just picked up this 2015 Alpine 3535RE six weeks ago and I'm finding all kinds of little problems with it. Maybe these problems are just one of the reasons that Keystone doesn't produce the maintenance documentation for each model, because they don't know how they are put together either.

Sounds like you'll have the cleanest gray tank on the forum. I really find it surprising that the tank sprayer would be in the gray tank. I thought it was part of the tank not an add on. Also thought the inlet sizes were different. I can't see how they could connect the toilet to a gray tank or sink/shower to the black. Maybe some of the guys who have removed a tank can chime in on this one.

Farside, Lets say I believe everything you printed. I am sure you (at least me) would have never left the lot with that trailer. If it got home it would have been back to the dealer the next day. What is/has the dealer done to fix what you mentioned.

My black and grey tanks valves are switched

I have seen monitor panels wired wrong, haven't seen a rinser in the wrong tank.

You have to remember these things are built by HUMANS, not robots so there are bound to be some mistakes once in a while.

The dealer should have caught the issue and corrected it before you ever took it home. And if they didn't you should have taken it back as soon as you noticed the problem, or at least called them to schedule a warranty repair.

NONE of the RV manufacturers that sell their brand at our dealership produce the documentation you talk about. Most likely because no matter what brand/model you have, they are all pretty much the same. Maybe the valve is in a different location but it's operation is the same. I'm sorry about your issues, but just complaining on an Internet forum doesn't do anything to correct the problem. Give the dealer/Keystone a chance.

My labels were backwards also. After switching labels, I painted the grey tank handle gray so after the stickers fail of I won't forget!

You can get handles in gray.

I have seen the handles in black and gray. Also if you are able to see the drain pipes near the valves. That will show you which is which. 3" is black tank, 2 " gray tank(s) all 9 travel trailers and truck campers I have owned you can see the pipes near the valves if you look. That shows you whats going to come out regardless of a label. I suppose some pipes are hidden in some models, I have not seen yet.

I don't think there is a rhyme nor reason behind the plumbing in travel trailers.. My galley valve is 2", the black and grey (shower) are both 3"...
