Full time newbie

Hi everyone,

I am new to the forum, and as of yesterday the new owner of a 2009 Keystone Everest 345S. I bought the Ram 3500 to pull it last week. I retired a few months ago, and will be pursuing my passion of astrophotography every winter in the US southwest deserts, and parking at my lot in Quebec in the summers. Looking forward to hitting the road in the spring. I am outfitting the trailer now with generator and other upgrades including a TPMS. Hope to see some of you out there!

Thanks sourdough,
I should get down there in November 2017, and plan to be there for most of the winters for the foreseeable future. From Texas to California, as well as Utah and Nevada will be my winter playground. I will be following the weather, and as it warms up heading to higher altitudes to get above as much atmosphere as possible for the astrophotography.

You might think about Ft. Davis, TX which is a very good location and is very popular. Another is Cloudcroft, NM (not far from W TX) where we have a vacation home. It has some of the clearest skies in the country and is extremely popular for astrophotography. The Sunspot observatory is a short distance from us. Our house is at 9000 ft. and the observatory is somewhere near that elevation. It is a summer location although you can normally access the mountain until mid-late Nov. From our deck there it looks/feels like you could just reach up and grab a handful of stars. Another location that's popular for folks that like to watch the "stars" is Marfa, TX, home of the "Marfa lights". You can google it and see if it is something you are interested in when you come this way.

Astroinfidel, Howdy;

Welcome to the forum and full timing.

Her in N.M. we have a huge amount of empty spaces that qualify as dark space. Here's a link that will give you a small sample.

Indeed....welcome! We enjoyed January, February & March 2016 in the desert area of California, not far from Palomar Observatory. It was interesting to see all the lighting in the city of Temecula, was an orange-ish color as to reduce light pollution.
