Noob. Taste like chicken. :-)
That's us: Never had an RV or a big truck or a diesel.
The house on the S. Oregon Coast is for sale and it's starting to look like all of the above are in our new adventure. We'll be checking out some communities where we might like to settle in CO, AZ, and NM. At some point, maybe next summer, we might make for AK or Newfoundland.
We are thinking of a 5er and tow vehicle, but have more or less given up on the idea of a toy hauler so we can take our touring bikes. Just thinking if we are full timing it would need to be a big th unit and a dually tow vehicle...
So, we're looking at staging the bikes somewhere near (AZ, CO, NM) and picking up a mid-sized 5er.
I'll be posting some questions in the other forums, this is just a hello...

Awesome and welcome to the forums. One of the more common things you'll likely see (other than which tire is the best ;-) ) is, is my TV ok for, or is the best for my XYZ trailer or 5r... Just a word of advise from someone who did it in reverse, get TV of the size and rating big enough (bigger than you might need) for whichever trailer or 5r you chose to get.

Had a dually diesel towing a 40' 5er full-time for 10+ years, honestly wouldn't want anything smaller in either to full-time with, but we've rv'd for over 40 years. It was a great adventure & wouldn't change a thing if doing it again. Landed a couple years ago in south central Arizona currently rvless & trying to decide if we're too old to get another smaller one or just quit & stay in hotels for what little we now travel.
Welcome & good luck with your new adventures!

First of all do not believe a truck salesman or RV salesman on weights and capabilities. This is a good forum to run makes, year and models of both up the flag pole for comment.
Next people tend to move up in trailer size as time goes on. So buying used the first go around helps in not taking a big hit!
Third, you make three piles of stuff. First pile in for family and "close" friend to choose from, second is for garage sale and third is for donations. Items left over from first pile go in second pile, and items left over from 1+2 after the garage sale go in pile three, and by by!
Try not to put stuff in storage unless you have a real plan for it, or as the years go by you will open the storage locker and close it right away and wait longer, before finally tackling the problem. In the mean time you spend a lot of money on storage.
When we bought the 2017 39' fifth wheel we wanting something around 35-36', however to get the shower, king bed etc we ended up at 39'. The unit we bought had a dry pin weight of 2435 lbs and we towed in heavily loaded full timing for a year and a half with a 3500 SRW RAM before building a park model with Arizona room as our winter home. The big 5th wheel roofed is now our summer home in the NW. And we have a small TT for commuting back and forth.
It would be hard to give up summers on the Oregon coast, we spent a week there in the spring this year, Brookings, Lakeside, and Newport.
Best of luck with your new life and keep us updated as you plans shape up.

How old is too old. D-Day and I shared the same milestone in June!
