First day out

Just brought our new passport bh home today. Fought the winds on the highway from some crazy storms, but no issues. Looking forward to the first trip out. Just need a surge protector.

I'd suggest an EMS instead of a surge protector. Progressive seems like the popular choice around the forum.

This depends on the type of camping. I opted for the surge, so I don't get issues when using a generator. If you only use shore power, then the EMS would be a better option.

We have a generator, tho I plan on mostly just going the route of parks with shore hookups. However I may save Abit for the EMS in the chance I'll use the generator, since the EMS is like twice as much as the surge protector.

And covers you against less than half as much!!
The EMS is pricey, but check the price an ac or 2, fridge, microwave & however many TV's onboard, pretty cheap insurance in my books.

I have the progressive industries hardwired EMS unit, it was around $200 and it is cheap insurance and piece of mind, as the others have mentioned.

I made a “bonded plug” to plug into the generator so it doesn’t show an open ground to the EMS system. I had the same concern regarding EMS and the generator but the bonded plug was easy to make or you can buy one. Just search YouTube or google for bonded generator plug.

Yes, there are ways to make the EMS and Generator play nice. I would not consider that a good reason to not get an EMS. In my opinion, the EMS is the way to go. I purchased the hard-wired unit, which I installed behind the power panel in my trailer. It wasn't too hard to do and now I don't have to worry about it walking away from the park pedestal.

Nice set-up you have, just like ours except the color of the truck! We just hit 6,000 miles towing since April and it has been a great experience, enjoy!

Thanks! We love it so far. Trying to find a nice balance of traveling light with gear since I'll be adding 2 adults and 2 kids to my payload when we get rolling. Seems like you've logged quite a few miles.. how's the truck done? Mines only the 5.0 but it's got the tow package with 3.55's.

I’ve got a 2017 just like yours. Like it a lot but had many problems. Floor bubbled up, had to get CW to reglue. The Auxiliary plug under the TV for iPhones didn’t work.The top bunk front board wasn’t nailed correctly to the bottom board. The dinette pony wall is not reenforced so came lose. The couch/bed is only screwed into side wall with very short screws so came off wall. And many more so check it out good before your warranty is up. What kind of toy vehicle Is that in your photo?
