Hello:

Unfortunately I need to fix a weld between the hitch coupler and the HSS tubing on my 2010 Keystone Passport Ultralite 290BH.

I called Keystone and then LCI (who manufactures the trailer chassis) to determine whether or not that section is tempered steel. So far no luck for a definitive answer from either one.

See attached photos for reference. I want to fix the weld but if tempered I don't want to further compromise the strength of the steel.

Any help on this question would be greatly appreciated.

We have removed couplers and welded on a new one without any adverse affects. If your just filling in a crack, I would say your good to go.
