New 5th
I've been looking for a while. I really wanted full body paint. I tried to buy a Redwood from PPL but their contract had expired and the owner came to get it back. So I found this Landmark Oshkosh. It's longer than I wanted at 39ft but we will be OK with it. I still have the Bigfoot for fishing trips. The Oshkosh is a 2018 model. Doesn't look like it was towed much. The Sailun tires look new, etc. Of course the dealer took me to the cleaners on my trade in. I knew it going in.
I'll still be here on this forum.

Congrats on the new rig Brent! It does look big to me but it also looks like a lot of fun, and, maybe not as much buffing...?? Glad you're sticking around; something always going on here..

Yes sir...No more Porter Cable!! No more buying more magic waxes. I was sweating bullets about it being able to get up my steep driveway. I bought four 2x10's to drive over if needed. Put the son on notice I may be wanting to store it at his place. I had the dealer remove the BAL spare tire carrier and put that and the spare in the storage bay. Shoot, all for nothing, it had more clearance that the Montana.
The plan is to run over to Coushatta Casino next week for a shakedown cruise. Maybe on to Vidalia to watch the tugs on the big river.
I'm reloading it with the stuff from the Montana. Why did I have 5 bags of charcoal?

Nice looking rig.
You were looking at Redwood, don't remember what model, but if it was any of the 36 or 38 models they're all right at 39'. My 36FB measured 38'11".
Also Redwoods were the brain child of Crossroads GM Tom Montague, he came from Carriage when they went away, after 3-4 model years of Redwoods & a difference of opinion with the company on the direction he wanted to take the Redwoods he moved over to Heartland (also a Thor holding) & the redesign of the Landmarks started. The 365 was his inspiration & was where he wanted to take the Redwood line. In my opinion Crossroads & Redwood lost that fight, although Redwoods are still a very good full-time choice, if buying again would most likely buy another.
BTW, we loved going to Coushatta, very nice RV park & usually had decent luck at the casino.

Danny the Redwood was a 2017, I think advertised as a 36. It was a bit short on linen and girl stuff storage. Also had a DirectTV Traveller on top. That was scary with all the hold down straps they put in the roof. But was sure pretty.
Heck I don't know, this Oshkosh may be a big pile of you know what. I debated myself and went back and forth but ended up buying a Good Sam policy on it.
I looked at a couple Carriages. Both nice, but one was previously wrecked and the other was 42+ft. but with 16" wheels.

Coushatta, yeah usually pretty good. My Dad and 3 previous generations grew up and lived maybe a mile west of the casino, on the Calcaseiu River. We'll probably go to courthouse in Oberlin, I want to look at some land records. Also want to check out 2 other campgrounds as well..Grand Ecore up at Natchitoches and Indian Creek at Woodworth.

Danny,,you ever stayed at Lost Dutchman State Park? It's on my bucket list. The legendary "Hermit of Superstition Mountains" Elisha Reavis was a distant cousin. I would like to go "walk where he walked". Interesting man.

Brent, if you plan on "walking where he walked" be aware of a couple of things; the country can get rough and it can get really hot.....and there's LOTS of hills there... Pick your season.
Years ago I did some studying on the Dutchman and the mountains. Figured I would give it a whirl and check things out. I found out the 2 things above right quick. By the end of the day I determined I wasn't THAT interested in spending a couple of days trying to dig deeper in the area. Now maybe, if I had been a lot younger, carried a GPS, has some pack mules and 100 gal. of water I might have hung out a while. I had some documents and stories detailing some kind of route that started off the Peralta trail if I recall (past the end of the public one that exists now). Anyway, go prepared; but it is fun.

Oh yeah, it'll be winter. I assume the state park will be filled, so most likely use Bigfoot and camp wherever. Chippewa snake boots if nothing else for the stickers, GPS, water, and my buddy Sam Colt. There's lots of internet info on the trails that lead to his homesite.
His cousin James Addison Reavis is even more interesting...

Yea! Don't come now, it's hotter'n hell here for another 4-6 weeks. But it's a great place to be in Dec-Jan-Feb.
Also with my knees just watching others climb these places makes mine ache!!

Very nice. A lightly used Oshkosh was on my radar for a little while before settling on a new Solitude. Love the floorplan, congrats!

Just FYI, the Heartland Owners have a very active forum and Owners Club. They seem to always have something going on. You might want to check it out.

Thanks to all for the nice words.
Heartland does have a good forum. They have a very in depth data base of how most features work on the products, written by a layman. The Landmark sub forum isn't particularly active though. They do have rallies frequently. Mostly subsidized by Heartland as I understand it.
