Protection?

We all love the great outdoors. But along with experiencing the wild outdoors comes the "curious" animals and people that dont belong in our camp area as well as in our campers. What have people done "extra" type of mods to their campers to keep out unwanted guest as well as protect their families?

I had something else in mind. Now I feel inadequate.

My trusty old axe handle seems a bit "caveman" too. Gotta love Dillion though. Especially the bullet-proof sunroof

Here I was thinking I was pretty well covered with a 45 on the hip, a 40 in my shoulder holster, my 38 in my ankle holster, 6 mags, a tactical 12 ga. in the truck along with my 5.56......now, I'm so disillusioned and feel inadequate as Desert said. I'll be sending in my app for a Class III tomorrow so I can upgrade........

I have an attack cat!!! Flame point Siamese and we all know how mean a Siamese can be

Seriously, I do carry what I am authorized to with my retired LEO CCW. Won't say what it is, but if you stop by unannounced you might find out

I think the message you are seeing here is not much for mods on thenRV itself. You can always add the warning that trespassers will be shot, survivors will be shot again. A little deterrent is sometimes better than any lock.

Unrelated to protection but related to curious animals that you might need protection from, my parents had a black bear fall through the living room window of their trailer (house) because it was curious and propped itself against the window to see what was inside. Scared the bejeezus out of everyone, including the bear.

After finding a 4 foot Mojave in our camp site, I picked up a Taurus Judge, with #6 .410 shot shells, it should work for any unwanted visitors.

That boy could put a hurt on somebody.
So far here around the house I've been using a Ruger Single Six 22LR with CCI shot shells. Works good on water moccasins. Fairly quiet here in the city limits.
But I do keep a 357 revolver with .38 CCI shotshell if I see a larger than average whatever.
Otherwise, in the winter it's a Ruger LC9 in my pocket and a S&W 38 in the summer. The usual 45 and shotguns scattered about the place.
On the road...LC9 on me and SR9 in the RV.

Where we camp, the nearest hospital is ~87 miles.

We were with good friends, his DW heard the rattle, while we were star gazing, my DW flipped on the flashlight to reveal him.

The pattern on the judge seems to be about as wide as the distance to the target

Kimber Micro 9 for the DW and me.

Up here we don't have any poisonous snakes but we do have some that will startle you walking through the underbrush. I typically carry a M&P 9mm with the first two rounds loaded with "rat shot" followed by hollowpoints for the rest of the magazine. I usually have a pocket full of replacement "rat shot" rounds so I don't have to fire the "seldom hit a tiny target" rounds loaded further down in the magazine.

Killed one a little smaller than that last week on my daily walk (nine rattles). I usually carry a Smith M&P340 snubby when around the house (it lives in my pocket). First two are shotshells and the last three are Underwood +P Xtreme Defenders.

We have black bears, lion, coyotes the occasional roving dogs looking to get into trouble, so when out and about on the ATV I carry something with more punch and more ammo.

When in Alaska, I carry a Ruger Alaskan in .454 Casull.

I feel inadequate too compared to the mini gun. I will be purchasing a nice Taurus .38 for the wife if i ever have to leave the camp, but for now she has the choice of a tactical 12ga or her fav my AK-47 she just hates that she can only use the 20 rd mags cause she cant sight it right when the 65 rd barrel drum is on it lol as for the camper i will be modifying the door to accept a deadbolt under the door handle for added security

Keep in mind that "trailer doors" are constructed of "bare minimum" material. It's very easy to "punch a fist through the door" with the only injury coming from trying to pull your fist back through the hole. So, adding any kind of extra locking device will probably only serve as a visible deterrent rather than a physical increase in security.

This thread is starting down the path where someone is going to get upset. Rather than have hard feelings and tempers showing, and all kinds of hooliganism going down, I'll close it. It's been fun, let's end it on that note.
