Outside location propane quick connect

I have a 2008 Springdale 266 and I'm trying to locate the outside propane quick connect. OR if there isn't one does anyone have suggestion on how, where, etc. I could add one? Thanks!

We have a new 269RLSWE. Our outside propane fitting is in the back, under the bumper, on the passenger side.

I think the propane line is usually visible under the trailer. Start at the propane tanks and follow it until you find the quick connect or the line terminates. If the line terminates and you don’t see a quick connect anywhere, you probably don’t have one.

The early models of the Springdale didn't have an exterior propane connection. My 2011 Springdale 242FWSS did not have one and none of the models that year came with that feature. I suspect that your 2008 also was not produced with a propane quick disconnect.

It's easy to add one. What I did was disconnect the furnace/refrigerator "tee" and remove the 4' black iron pipe that ran to that "tee". I replaced it with a 3'6" black iron pipe, a "tee" and a 9" black iron nipple, replaced the original "tee", reconnected the furnace/refrigerator and installed a 1' nipple with the propane quick disconnect fitting on it. That placed a propane QD just behind the rear tire on the curb side.

NOTICE THAT I SAID "BLACK IRON" SEVERAL TIMES. DON'T USE GALVANIZED PIPE WITH PROPANE DELIVERY. USE ONLY BLACK IRON PIPE.

And when using thread tape on propane connection, use the (usually yellow) thread tape made for propane.

The Home Depot near me will cut/thread black iron pipe, so will most locally owned hardware stores. If you want to place the "T" in a specific spot just park the spot on the existing pipe, remove it and take it in. They can measure the overall, then cut and thread to match a the overall length with the T in the pipe.

Use the Gas rated teflon as Ghen noted or Oatey 31231 Pipe Joint Compound with PTFE. I prefer pipe compound myself.

Oh yes, and DON'T BE TEMPTED TO USE PNEUMATIC QUICK DISCONNECTS on a propane line. They do not seal at the connection and can leak propane, creating an explosion hazard. ALWAYS USE PROPANE/LPG CERTIFIED QUICK DISCONNECT FITTINGS..….

I went to the local LPG distributor & bought a tee for the bottle along with a 25' hose with a disconnect for my grill, much easier than cutting/threading pipe. The long hose allows placement of the grill about anywhere desired & disconnects for easy storage.

I'll add that buy them as a "set". There are 2 different sizes (not thread size but the actual male/female disconnects) that came from the factory on our unit and they are not interchangeable.

Good point JRTJH on the propane quick connects. I didn’t realize there was a difference until last year. They are normally located in the BBQ section of the hardware stores, not with the air compressor parts. They are not interchangeable.

Maybe that (connection differences) is an attempt to prevent the novice from mixing non-gas fittings with gas.
