Does water get in only from wheel wells underneath or other places too?

Hello everybody,

We recently got a new to us 2016 Bullet Crossfire. Upon scouring the threads, I've noticed all the problems with the floor and water leaks.

I checked under my camper and there is metal plates or "metal wheel well liners" above my wheels. I was under the impression that there was only the floor material there like the rest of the camper underneath and there would be no protection. I'm not sure if this was installed aftermarket or if I understood wrong?

So I am wondering, are rocks and other derbies penetrating just at the wheel wells or in front and behind the wheel wells a well?

I saw the post about a member installing HDPE and it looks to only be in the wheel wells.

I do have a soft spot right at the door in the floor which I'm guessing is from the metal piece at the bottom of the door.

Just a guess, the metal liners were installed after market by the previous owner. Probably after he noticed the same "soft spot" you have. Pull a couple of the screws attaching the floor door sill and see if they are not rusted. That will tell you if water has gotten in. Water will also come in from the roof. Check and maintain all roof seals on a regular and consistent maintenance schedule.

My 2018 Hideout has metal wheel well lines OEM. I was shocked to see them!

I would double check those metal wheel liners and make SURE they are water proof. I had a Jayco once with them and thought that was just super....until I opened a storage cabinet above/behind one of them after traveling in a rain storm and it was full of water.

Yeah, they do not look watertight. Need to seal all seams and corners. Add it to the list!
