You do have to replace the entire strip. If you remove the sealant where the wires go into the front you MIGHT be lucky enough to pull out enough wire to cut and attach the new ones. Otherwise you might find yourself taking interior wall panels off.
If you do get lucky enough to pull the wires, use solder terminals and shrink tape.
