[QUOTE=notanlines;388590]Yes, that is the one. It is completely wide open, all large, long pull thru sites. Sadly, they are probably closed but it doesn't hurt to call.[/QUOTE. The casino you are speaking of is Isleta we like that one . New Mexico should be open up May 15 for the most part. There has been a lot of rebelling over the way the governor is dictating NM except Albuquerque and Santa Fe Sanctuary cities. CRK Isleta would be my choice and around the location you will be visiting .

Most insurers have free glass replacements. You might want to check.

Good Luck, stay safe.

My insurance has a $50 deductible for windshields.
I think the rebelling is more of a national thing, the big box stores can be open but not the little guys even if they do the same precautions. It's all about the dollar and who pays more tax in my opinion. Not sure how sanctuary cities play a roll but it's no surprise that the more densely populated areas are hit the worst in general by CV19.
BTW, my bro-in-law had his dodge diesel truck stolen from the Isleta Casino parking lot a few years ago as he was lodging overnight, but not in the RV park area.

Dan I’m south of you check out the News KRQE 13 tonight you will see parade of boats Protesting Elephant butte lake not opening. Being sanctuary city certainly makes a difference when you’re having Honduran rebels crossing the border being sent to Albuquerque closing down the 4H fair.

I haven't worked out the distance but if are planning only one overnight stop that sounds pretty agressive.

I watched the 9-10p broadcast and did not see that story. But I guess a parade of boats is better than angry mobs storming the capitol buildings, right?

Still don't see how being a sanctuary city plays with CV19 travel plans, what this thread is about. What you are referring to happened last year at the fairgrounds, IIRC. Regardless, I'm fortunate to live out of abq city limits.

Sorry OP about this diversion...

Ha no worries, it's all good info.

I have full glass coverage on the truck so I'll just call State Farm and they'll send a mobile windshield guy right to the driveway, nothing out of pocket.

The trip will be around 1,200mi and admittedly, I've also realized how aggressive that will be with the TT behind me.. so I've been looking at night 1 in eastern NE, night 2 in eastern CO... or night 1 in MO/KS, night 2 in OK/TX.

We purchased a new home in ID. 400 miles each way from current home.
Visited area several time over 3 years, last scouting trip was 1st week of March. Were there this week and the freeway system and stops have very few people or vehicles. We drove a 90 mile portion coming home and passed 2 rvers, 2 u hauls, just comm truck traffic and not much of that. All past trips vehicles seen most every mile. Some rest stops open, most not. No parks, city, county or state open. 1 planned fuel stop and it was open and not near as busy was I have ever seen in 35 years.

. No diversion my point is along with everybody else On this thread Albuquerque bites the drivers are more disrespectful than anywhere I have been. I would rather drive through Denver, Phoenix,Houston through in a terrible tropical storm anywhere but Albuquerque especially pulling a trailer. Good luck to the OP with his travel.

Just traveled from Florida to Ohio with expired Ohio trailer plates, been trying for 60+ days to transfer to Florida plates, said the hell with it. Most all KOA's are open and are safeguarding per franchise guidelines. We use them all the time for overnight stops and occasional destinations.

Hey Frank, do you use the KOA loyalty program at all? I could easily do KOAs for my trip to ABQ and back, I'm trying to decide if it'd be worth it to grab a loyalty card before I set off.

We used it a few years back when we were traveling more. Besides the discounts it is easier to make reservations and if you make a reservation and have to change it outside of there cancellation guidelines they always worked with us.

At this time the CG office's and stores are off limits, but they will greet you, hand you the paper work and guide you to your spot. They wiped down all touchable surfaces and offer to deliver anything from the store. Very professional and polite. Thank You KOA for providing safe spaces.

Have a safe trip

Yes! Get the card. 10% off immediately & after staying you earn points towards free nights plus eventually the discount will increase to 15% after you've reached VIP level.

Has anyone stayed at the Stagecoach Stop in Rio Rancho? I'm looking at trips this summer and would stop somewhere around Albuquerque for a night.

RV sites open

We came thru Albuquerque mid April. We called 2 campgrounds pin the west end of town with 1recorded message saying they were closed & the other just not answering. We stayed at a KOA. On another night we were at a campground that was taking only self- contained units because restrooms were locked. I'd recommend KOAs for "most likely" to have basic amenities available at this time & safety.

We recently traveled from LA to Texas and all campgrounds we used had the baths and common areas locked out.

I finally made it this week... got delayed by a couple of maintenance items on the truck which I took care of myself in the garage to save a cool $1,500. Leaky water pump, rear brakes, oil pressure sensor.. typical stuff that starts happening as soon as the warranty expires.

Left out of MN on Sunday morning in the pouring rain. Stayed in Lawrence, KS and Elk City, OK on the way down.

I love that there are so many RVers out despite the "pandemic". The campgrounds are still pretty full! The KOAs are great. I must have seen 25 class C campers from RV 4 Rent .com on the way down lol

The half-ton did pretty well considering the hills and, in some places headwinds. Unfortunately it still overall reiterates my need to upgrade. I've been eying the F-250 and F-350 SRW diesels, but I might go a little older model to keep the payments lower and get a bigger truck.

Weather is awesome!! I'm hitting the road tomorrow to head back. Thanks again for all the guidance!

(ooh yeah I get to update my avatar too )
