Impact 311 backup Camera

We just joined the Keystone family over the weekend and are learning more and more every day about our new to us trailer.

Question is, For those with a similar model that is pre-wired for a back-up camera, where does the harness go? Ours has a camera mounted currently, but I am not too sure where the connection point is?

Unless its recommended to just go with a Furrion setup instead?

Note: Mods please move if this is not the right thread to post here. Thank you

You need to go to the "user CP" in the header bar, scroll down to "edit signature" to add your make, model & year of your rv & tow vehicle then "save changes" at the bottom. This will aid in all future questions by not having to be ask "WHAT RV?".

I don't know what "year" your trailer is and that does make some difference as the "wired for back up camera" has changed several times through the years.

You could have a "wired for backup camera" system that only works with a wireless camera system (camera and monitor) and the only "wiring" is a pigtail from the center running/clearance light so 12 volts is available "on the pigtail" when the running lights are powered on...

You could have a "constant on 12 volt power source" that is wired from the power center fuse panel. That wired for back up camera" system may or may not include a "off/on switch" to activate the camera.

You could have a dedicated 12 volt wire from a "constant power source" that's tapped off the hot lead to a light or 12 volt outlet. It may be "always on" with no means to turn the camera off. It may function "to power the camera" only when the tow vehicle is in reverse (backup lights on) or it may function "all the time" or it may function "only when the running lights are illuminated, both of which would allow you to use it as a "rear monitor" while towing rather than "only when in reverse"....

Or, you could have a "wired camera with a coax cable running from the camera mount through the trailer walls, under the trailer and connected to a quick disconnect plug at the tongue/pinbox of the trailer...

In any of those "wired for back up camera" systems, without a specific monitor that works with the installed camera, the system is not functional....

With a used trailer, not only are you subject to what the manufacturer installed, but also to what a previous owner may have installed or had installed, so what's on your "new to me" trailer may not even resemble what left the Keystone factory after it was built.....

If you add it to your signature it will appear with EVERY post so you don't have to add it to the title again.
