Removing bedroom door?

My rig has the wood door on hanging rollers inside the bedroom.

On my old rig, I used to remove the door when it was only going to be me and DW traveling, to give us a little more room to move. Because the mechanism was "naked," it was a simple matter of flipping up the little plastic lever on each roller, lifting the door out, tying back the rollers so they wouldn't rattle, and storing the door in the garage.

On the Cougar, Keystone has enclosed the door rollers with a valance. I've tried several different strategies for reaching in there to pop the levers, and haven't yet succeeded. Plus I'm not even sure there's enough room to hop the door bolts off the rollers if I do succeed.

Is there a trick to doing this that someone can suggest to me?

CD, while I can't help with your actual dilemma, I can recommend the removal of the door(s). Ours from the little Salem are resting comfortably in our storage, maybe to be used someday by another owner down the road.

Valance

Take the valance off of one side probably two screws. I had to do this when my door would fall off the rollers.

We have a bullet with two of those doors...on one of the doors, one of the rollers keeps getting disconnected. Although I can get it back on, to really fix it the only good way was to remove the valance for access.

My 2018 26RBS had the little flip levers to remove the door. A year after removing the door I also removed the valance, track, and trim.

My bedroom door on our 2017 Carbon 35 removed itself repeatedly. Busted plastic bushing in the roller assembly & bent track. New bigger track & roller assembly there now. Then the vinyl strap holding the door open while traveling failed. Door is sitting in the garage while the wife sources a snap. In the mean time it's just is & the dog.

There was just a screw half way in at the end of the track preventing it from going past the end of the track. If your setup is the same, remove the screw & roll the door off the end of the track.

I finally got around to doing this job, and indeed, the three screws remove the valance only. They don't even go into the wall, just the track's backing strip. Once that's off, it's easy to flip the levers, unmount the door, and cart it away. I put the valance back just so I wouldn't misplace the piece or screws, but I did remove the "slider helper" that keeps the bottom of the door from swinging out, so I wouldn't lose ankle skin to it.

That extra 3" clearance is going to make a world of convenience difference to a big lug like me.

If it’s the rear roller, the track is probably short on the back side. Different manufacturers do different things, but most will have some type of a stop at the back of the door to prevent it from going too far. I’ve seen these stops mounted to the wall with one or two screws or staples fall off. Next time it happens, remove the door and put a block on the floor at the back of the pocket to prevent the door from opening too far. Typically a 2x4 set on edge is all it takes.
